WASHINGTON, DC: Laura Loomer stepped in to defend Donald Trump after people slammed him for how he responded to Robert Mueller’s death. She argued that critics were missing the point; it’s just a human reaction, nothing out of the ordinary.

Mueller, the former special counsel who investigated Russia’s role in the 2016 election, died at 81. Politicians from across the spectrum posted tributes, but Trump’s social media response drew a mix of criticism and attention.

Loomer says Trump’s reaction to Mueller death is ‘relatable’

In her remarks, Loomer described Trump’s post as “relatable,” arguing that people often feel relief or satisfaction at the passing of individuals they view as adversaries.

“Robert Mueller terrorized President Trump and his family. It’s totally healthy to be happy when your enemies die. Especially when you outlive them! I stand with President Trump,” she wrote on Twitter.

She criticized those condemning Trump’s comments, saying they were ignoring what she called a common human instinct.

“Honestly, it makes me love President Trump more. His post is so relatable. Stop pretending like you haven’t been happy to learn of one of your enemies who harmed you passing away. It’s human nature,” Loomer added.

Trump and Mueller feud highlights deep political divide

Mueller spent over ten years running the FBI and later led the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the election, a role that placed him at the center of heated political arguments while Trump was president.

Trump had repeatedly criticized Mueller and the investigation, calling it biased and politically motivated. So when Mueller died, Trump’s response aligned with the history of their feud.

Following news of Mueller’s death, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Good, I’m glad he’s dead,” adding that Mueller could “no longer hurt innocent people.” The comment quickly sparked backlash from critics and political observers.

Loomer’s defense shows that some of Trump’s allies still stand with him, convinced the investigation left real political and personal scars. Others believe public figures should respond more carefully when someone dies.

The cause of Mueller’s death was not immediately clear. CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, confirmed his death. “With deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away,” his family said in a statement. “His family asks that their privacy be respected.”

Mueller previously led the FBI from 2001 to 2013, taking office just days before the September 11, 2001 attacks. He is credited with reshaping it into a modern counterterrorism agency.
