MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell has sided with disgraced ex-Donald Trump attorney Michael Cohen after the star witness in the ongoing hush money trial confessed to stealing money from the former president's business.

During another heated day of cross-examination, the 57-year-old was pressed by Trump's defense lawyer Todd Blanche on an alleged $50,000 that was supposed to be paid to tech company Red Finch but ended up paying just $20,000 of that money in a brown paper bag, pocketing the remaining $30,000 for himself.

"You stole from the Trump Org, right?" Blanche asked Cohen on Monday, May 20, to which he responded, "Yes, sir," per Fox News.

Lawrence O'Donnell terms the payment to Red Finch 'irrelevant'

During MSNBC's coverage of the trial, O'Donnell shrugged off the stunning revelation, calling the payment to Red Finch "irrelevant" and admonishing Blanche for not pressing Cohen on the $130,000 that was paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels that is at the center of the trial despite the "effective" exchange.

"Later when Cohen was asked about that on redirect by the prosecution, it didn’t really sound like stealing $30,000," O'Donnell said. "It sounded a lot like Michael Cohen doing the little that could within that calculation to rebalance the bonus he thought he deserved."

"And it still came out as less than the bonus he thought he deserved and the bonus he had gotten the year before," O'Donnell added.

Donald Trump again blasts Judge Juan Merchan

The 77-year-old slammed Judge Juan Merchan yet again in comments to the press before entering the courtroom for his New York criminal trial on Tuesday, May 21.

Trump argued that his defense team has essentially "won" the case already and that Judge Merchan should side "decisively" against Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. "Any other judge would have thrown this case out," opined Trump.

Donald Trump summed up his New York criminal trial in just two words

The business mogul summed up his thoughts on his New York criminal trial in just two words on social media before he appeared at the Manhattan courthouse on Monday, May 20. "KANGAROO COURT!" he wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump has railed against the case for weeks, in addition to criticizing Judge Merchan and DA Bragg for bringing it forward. "'There weren’t any campaign violations committed by Trump,' Jonathan Turley," Trump also posted Tuesday morning.

The prosecution rested its case on Monday after Trump's defense team finished its cross-examination of his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen.

Internet calls MSNBC 'an insane asylum' and Lawrence O'Donnell a lunatic for supporting Michael Cohen

Netizens were furious after O'Donnell sided with Cohen and justified his wrongdoings. One X user tweeted, "MSNBC is an insane asylum. O'Donnell is one the deranged lunatics in the asylum." Another said, "Awesome. Embezzlers can now say they were just rebalancing the pay they thought they deserved from their employer."

"If you don’t get the bonus at work you think you deserve, just steal something," mocked one while another wrote, "lol his explanation makes literally 0 sense."

"That's the craziest thing I've heard lately," added one user.
