NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: New York Attorney General Letitia James slammed President Donald Trump while speaking at a convention for the National Action Network commemorating Dr Martin Luther King Jr on Friday, April 4.

Accusing the 78-year-old commander-in-chief of being ignorant and stupid, James promised to challenge his "illegal" executive orders in a court of law.

Since taking office for a second term in January, Trump has signed hundreds of executive orders, many of them highly controversial, such as recognizing only two genders and banning trans women from participating in women's sports.

James stated at the Friday event that she was inspired by MLK Jr to stand up to Trump's agenda, reported Shore News Network.

"Donald Trump, I'm not afraid of you," she said. "Each and every time he issues an illegal executive order, I am going to stand up to him because he represents, to me, sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

A champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), James noted that the incumbent's attack on such practices was not limited to race but encompassed issues such as parental leave and disability rights.

"When they talk about DEI, let them know that they're not only coming after us, but they're coming after all of us," she stated.

James is known to follow through on her words. When Trump directed federal agencies to ensure that hospitals receiving federal grants did not provide gender-affirming care, the New York AG wrote a letter to all hospitals reminding them that they would be held in violation of state law if they withheld treatment, as per The Daily Fetched.

"Electing to refuse services to a class of individuals based on their protected status, such as withholding the availability of services from transgender individuals based on their gender identity or their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, while offering such services to cisgender individuals, is discrimination under New York law,” James noted.
