Inside Liam Payne’s tragic death and the final farewell attended by his loved ones
The former One Direction member died from polytrauma after suffering multiple traumatic injuries and internal and external haemorrhaging following a fall from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to the BBC, toxicology reports revealed traces of substances and prescription antidepressants in his system. Following an investigation, it was concluded that Payne was in a state of intoxication and semi-consciousness, which led to his fall from the balcony of his hotel room. Authorities determined that the fall was not a voluntary act.
Payne was laid to rest in a private funeral service on November 20, 2024, in the Home Counties of southeast England, specifically near Amersham in Buckinghamshire.
The private gathering was attended by his family, close friends, girlfriend Kate Cassidy, ex-partner Cheryl, and all of his former One Direction bandmates — Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson.
