Lindsay Clancy holdout juror claims he was 'cut off', insists she planned killings

PLYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS: The lone juror who refused to support a not-guilty verdict in the Lindsay Clancy trial has spoken through his attorney, offering his account of the deliberations that ended in a mistrial.

Michael P Desronvil reportedly maintained that the evidence showed Clancy understood what she was doing and had planned the killings.

His lawyer, on Friday, September 18, said the juror believed his position was repeatedly dismissed inside the jury room.

Holdout juror breaks silence

Attorney Edward Paltzik, who represents Desronvil, shared a statement attributed to the juror on X.

“I didn't have any doubts,” Desronvil said. “As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence presented.”

He said the physical evidence, testimony from key witnesses and the prosecution’s presentation were sufficient for him to reach his conclusion.

“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presented, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned,” the statement read.

Desronvil’s position placed him at odds with the other 11 members of the jury.

The panel reportedly deadlocked 11-1, with Desronvil supporting a conviction rather than accepting Clancy’s insanity defense. Judge William Sullivan subsequently declared a mistrial.

Paltzik had earlier identified his client as the "lone holdout juror" and described him in highly complimentary terms, calling him an "American Hero and Champion of Justice."

Juror's lawyer asks for privacy

In a separate statement, Paltzik said Desronvil was safe at an undisclosed location in rural Northern New England.

He also said the juror was relying on his Catholic faith while dealing with the attention and criticism that followed the mistrial.

Paltzik later rejected media requests for interviews with both himself and his client.

He said the immediate priority was Desronvil’s “health, safety, and well-being” and asked people not to contact the juror, visit his home, or attempt to identify his location.

The lawyer said further information would be shared “on an appropriate timeline.”

Desronvil’s account has also been discussed by YouTuber Ray Marcel, who said he conducted an off-camera interview with the juror.

Marcel claimed Desronvil believed he could be targeted because he is a Black Republican with conservative views.

Marcel also claimed that several jurors initially favored a not-guilty verdict on the first day of deliberations.
