NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Some characters become timeless thanks to the actors who bring them to life, remaining relevant long after their stories first appear on screen. Lindsay Lohan’s portrayal of the iconic twins in ‘The Parent Trap’ is one such example.
The actress stepped back into the roles of Annie James and Hallie Parker to celebrate the twins’ 40th fictional birthday on October 11.
The short video undoubtedly brought back a wave of nostalgia for audiences who grew up watching the beloved film.

In a sweet and funny video posted on Sunday, Lohan first appeared with her long blonde hair down, wearing a light yellow sweater.
She adopted a British accent and spoke while looking off-screen. “Hi Hallie. Happy birthday,” she said. “You know it’s October 11?”
The video then cut to Lohan, 40, with her hair pulled back and wearing a more casual grey sweatshirt. “Annie you’re so funny, of course I know it’s October 11,” she said in her usual American accent, also looking off-screen. “Happy birthday sis.”
In the caption, Lohan wrote, “Happy Birthday Hallie & Annie!” She also used ‘There She Goes’ from ‘The Parent Trap’ as the video’s background track.
Lindsay Lohan’s 'The Parent Trap' sequel talks resurface
Lohan was only 11 years old when she took on the dual roles of Annie and Hallie in the 1998 remake of Disney’s ‘The Parent Trap’. The film follows identical twins who are separated when their parents divorce.
Their father, Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid), raises Hallie in California, while their mother, Elizabeth James (Natasha Richardson), raises Annie in London, England.
Although the sisters grow up on opposite sides of the Atlantic without knowing about each other, their lives change when they meet at summer camp.
After discovering that they are twins and share a birthday on October 11, Annie and Hallie devise a plan to switch identities. Their goal is to reunite their parents and give their family another chance.
Lohan’s performance as both sisters helped make the film a memorable favourite for generations of viewers.
Over the years, discussions about a possible sequel have continued, with some original cast members expressing interest in revisiting the story.
In 2025, Lisa Ann Walter, who played the Parker family’s housekeeper, Chessy, and Elaine Hendrix, who portrayed Meredith Blake, discussed the possibility of a sequel with PEOPLE at the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
“A lot of people talk about it. A lot of people want it. We’re totally game,” Walter said.
Walter then suggested that Lohan might have already addressed the possibility of a sequel. Hendrix cut in, adding, “But we can neither confirm nor deny.”
