WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is facing a wave of criticism on social media Tuesday, June 18, after making controversial remarks about President Joe Biden.

In an interview with Jesse Watters, Graham declared, “The next time you hear the word felon in this election, I think the felon in this election is Joe Biden.”

He further accused Biden of criminal actions, stating, “What he’s doing to the country is criminal. His border policies are allowing people to be raped and murdered on the street.”

Donald Trump's legal woes

Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, was found guilty by a Manhattan jury last month on all counts in his historic hush money trial.

He was convicted of falsifying business records to cover up an alleged sex scandal during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Additionally, Trump faces three other criminal cases, including two related to his coup attempt and one concerning his handling of classified documents and alleged efforts to obstruct the subsequent investigation.

Former President Donald Trump listens as his attorney Todd Blanche speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Graham's assertion that “what happened to Trump in New York was a bunch of BS” and “a political hit job” only fueled the online outrage.

Netizens react to Lindsey Graham calling Biden a 'felon'

Social media users were quick to slam Graham for his statements.

A user tweeted, "Graham IS going down with the lying odious criminal FELON trump." A second user said, "If you wanted to measure just how far Lindsey has fallen down the cultist well, watch this."

A third added, "That’s not how becoming a felon works. It means that a jury found you guilty of being a felon. Like, for instance, how a jury found Trump to be a felon."

A fourth claimed, "Graham was a prosecutor. What a gd shame he’s become."

"Graham spends more time on Fox News than he does doing his job," noted an individual.

"@LindseyGrahamSC is so untruthful..with himself, his constituents...He's part of the lying mob of Republicans trying to destroy America. #LindseysCloset," read a tweet.

"Real Justice is late. So the criminals are still writing the script. #VoteBlue," penned a user.

"Lindsey is a dangerous, pathetic sycophant," added another.

"What he is doing is no illegal. Just bad policy. Your guy committed crimes," asserted an individual.

"That's not how it works and you and the ladybugs know it," said a user.
