GLENDALE, ARIZONA: President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk reunited at conservative icon Charlie Kirk's funeral on Sunday, September 21, months after their messy public feud.

The POTUS and the SpaceX CEO were seen shaking hands and speaking briefly before Trump appeared to motion Musk away. Lip reader Nicola Hickling revealed what the president and the multi-billionaire said to each other.

Lip reader claims Donald Trump urged Elon Musk to try and get things back 'on track' during exchange

Talking to the Daily Mail, lip reader Nicola Hickling revealed Donald Trump told Elon Musk, "How are you doing?" as he turned to greet him.

She added that Musk then seemed to shrug as the POTUS added, "So Elon, I've heard you wanted to chat."

According to the lip reader, Trump suggested to Musk, "Let’s try and work out how to get back on track", as UFC icon Dana White joined the conversation.



 

Meanwhile, Musk responded by nodding his head as the POTUS then hugged his hand and said, "I've missed you," Hickling revealed.

Trump and Musk engaged in a series of social media attacks since June 2025, when the tech billionaire left his role as the head of The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).



 

He attacked Trump for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a landmark piece of legislation for his second administration. He warned it could cost taxpayers billions and increase government debt. 



 

Meanwhile, Trump escalated their very public spat by calling Musk a "bulls**t" artist.

During a Michigan rally in July 2025, the POTUS said of Musk. "Maybe it's time he went back to where he came from."

Donald Trump remembers Charlie Kirk as 'a giver, much more than a taker'

President Trump took the stage to honor Charlie Kirk on Sunday, who was brutally killed on September 10 at Utah Valley University.

During his speech, Trump described the United States as a nation both in shock and mourning.

He said, "Two weeks ago our country was robbed off one of the brightest lights of our times", as he paid tribute to Charlie’s many admirable qualities.



 

Moreover, he shared personal memories of late-night calls from Kirk, highlighting how he was not only a passionate advocate but also a generous supporter of his. 

The POTUS recalled how the conservative activist would often call him the night before major events, urging him to attend.

"He was a very convincing guy," the POTUS said with a smile, and mentioned that Kirk sometimes asked him to travel across the country, like to California, the very next day.

"He just wouldn’t stop, and he succeeded. I almost always went because you never wanted to let Charlie down. He worked so hard—you just couldn’t let him down," Trump added.

He also praised Kirk's unique character, "He’d make me feel guilty as president. Many people ask me for things, but Charlie was one of the few who always gave more than he took. He was a giver, much more than a taker. And no matter how big Charlie became, no one was too small for him to notice. He was good to everybody, didn't matter."
