NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Donald Trump felt betrayed by Kim Kardashian after working with her on prison reform efforts, as per newly-obtained audio played on CNN’s 'OutFront' on Wednesday, June 26.

The clip was provided by Ramin Setoodeh, who interviewed Trump for his new book 'Apprentice in Wonderland'.

During his interview with Erin Burnett, the biographer shared that the ex-POTUS was left dejected when the 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star shared a celebratory post following President Joe Biden's win in the 2020 election.

Ramin Setoodeh reveals Donald Trump's disappointment with Kim Kardashian

During the CNN interview, host Burnett informed viewers, "He (Trump) had invited her to the White House in 2020," alluding to Kardashian.

She added, "And you also discussed her with him. Here's a portion of what he shared with you," before playing the audio clip.

In the recording, Trump was heard saying, "I was disappointed in Kim… With Kim, I did a lot of prison reform that she couldn’t get done with anybody else well… I let people out of prison that I thought were deserving to be let out. And then after it was all over, she announced that she’s not supporting me. And she only did that to be cool in Hollywood."

"So, Ramin,  in that conversation how do you think he really felt? I mean, he could have been much nastier about her, obviously. But he took a hit there. Do you think he genuinely feels she betrayed him?" asked Burnett to Setoodeh.

The award-winning journalist replied, "Absolutely. I think he feels wounded that he invited Kim Kardashian to the White House, and then she went on social media after Joe Biden was declared the winner in 2020 and posted three heart emojis on her social media to support the Biden-Harris administration. He was fixated on that in the early days after he left the White House," as per Mediaite

Donald Trump's relationship with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Encouraged by Kardashian, Trump signed the First Step Act in 2018, which aimed to reduce excessively long federal sentences and improve conditions in federal prisons, as per The Washington Post

He also granted clemency to several women serving lengthy federal prison terms, cases that Kardashian had brought to his attention and praised him for addressing.

Talking to Jimmy Kimmel in 2018, the SKIMS founder said, "I have nothing bad to say about the president. I’m very grateful. I’m very hopeful more good things will come out of our meeting."

However, following Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 presidential election, Kardashian took to Twitter (now X) to share a photo of the POTUS and Vice President Kamala Harris alongside three blue hearts, leading to Trump feeling betrayed.

This disappointment lingered for Trump.

During his interview with Setoodeh, he said, "I was disappointed in Kim. I get along with her fine. I got along with her then-husband. In fact, he endorsed me ... and all that stuff. But with Kim, I did a lot of prison reform that she couldn’t get done with anyone else. Then, in order to be accepted by Hollywood, she didn’t endorse me. I heard … somebody told me she did not endorse me."

Kanye West, Kim Kardahian's ex-husband, endorsed the real estate mogul in 2016 but later disclosed that he did not vote. The rapper, who ran for office in 2020, has lately faced significant backlash over apparent antisemitic remarks.

Setoodeh's 'Apprentice in Wonderland' came out on June 18.
