PORTLAND, MAINE: Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said on Friday, December 29, that her office has received 'truly unacceptable' threatening messages since removing Donald Trump from the state's 2024 primary ballot.

As the Colorado Supreme Court did earlier this month, supporters of the indicted former president apparently can't stop harassing public officials, with Bellows being their latest victim, per a report by Daily Beast.

Bellows was asked on CNN's ‘The Situation Room’ how she felt about former POTUS Donald Trump's admirers in right-wing media sharing images of her with President Joe Biden, as well as a post about her by Trump himself.

What did Secretary of State Shenna Bellows share during her interview?

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins said of Bellows’s previous photographs with President Joe Biden, “Obviously, we do know you are a Democrat. That’s not surprising. But you saw Trump himself sharing on social media ways to contact your office—the information to contact your office. I wonder, given the position that you’re in and the decision you have made, if you have concerns for your safety since making this decision?”

Bellows stated that she was aware of potential threats but was steadfast in her decision to not let that change her ruling.

She explained, “I appreciate law enforcement and the people around me who have been incredibly supportive of my safety and security. My safety and security is important. So is the safety and security of everyone who works with me. And we have received threatening communications. Those are unacceptable.”

The Secretary of State for Maine continued, “But regardless, my consideration in this proceeding is to adhere to the process. We are a nation of laws. Maine law required me to hold a hearing and issue a decision, and now it goes to the superior court, and I will uphold the ruling of the courts. That is the process that we are due.”

“And again, looking at the evidence and the events of January 6, it was an insurrection because people attacked not only the Capitol but also that process of the peaceful transfer of power,” Bellows noted.

Bellows ruled that Donald Trump was ineligible for a second term under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which forbids anyone who has engaged in insurrection from holding office.

In response to another question concerning the nature of the threats she has received, Bellows stated that she is concerned about the safety and security of "people I love, people around me, and people who are charged with protecting me and working alongside me."

"That being said, we are a nation of laws, and that's what's really important," she remarked. "So I have been laser-focused on that obligation to uphold the Constitution."

Internet showed its disgust for diehard Trump supporters harassing Shenna Bellows and other federal officials

People on X reacted to Bellows's comments that came out on Friday and slammed the MAGA crowd for acting unhinged ahead of a crucial election year.

One X user said: "Of course. MAGA are the worst people."

Another user remarked: "Trump and MAGA are always about threatening people… Let the Supreme Court weigh in, and stop the mob nonsense, cowards."

Another user wrote: "America: Trump is the ex-abusive partner who refuses you from leaving him. He just won't go away, making threats and causing anxiety at every turn. And his harassing gets worse and worse until... Please make him stop. Please make him go away. I just want peace. I want peace."

One user stated: "Trump threatening a public official is nothing new, even though his friend Rudy just got sent into bankruptcy for his harassment of Georgia election officials. Republicans can't stomach any official doing their job."

Another X user remarked: "It’s odd that a traitor is urging his cult members to harass a woman to convince us all that he isn’t a danger to the republic."

Another user said: "I hope no one is hurt before action is taken to stop trump’s threats. Holding Space for Her and her team."

One X user stated: "MAGA resorts to mob tactics because they don’t have the facts/truth"

Finally, this user tweeted: "trump truly is a coward."
