Mama June reveals plans to bring forward 'affordable' version of weight loss drug after shedding 30 lbs
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mama June Shannon is collaborating with a company to bring affordable weight loss drugs to the common people after she claimed to have received miraculous results from diabetic medications.
During an interview with Daily Mail, the ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ star recently opened up about her vision for selling affordable weight loss drugs.
Mama June is planning to sell weight loss medication
Previously, the 44-year-old reality star had declared that she would not be taking any weight-loss injections. But in April, she retracted from the stance and started taking a version of semaglutide, similar to Ozempic.
After a few months of using the medication, Mama June truly embraced the drug. She found the results so encouraging that she claims she is now working with a drug company to bring an affordable version to the masses.
She shared, “The medicine is truly, truly, truly expensive, but I found a company that I am starting to work with, that very soon the people who are on the weight loss medication [will] have a more affordable way to get their medicine.”
She continued, “I personally was paying $500 a month for my medicine. Now I only pay $199, and that includes the doctor visit and the medicine - and you can have it shipped right to your door.”
Mama June famously reduced 355 pounds when she underwent a gastric sleeve surgery nine years ago. Nevertheless, she claimed that while taking care of her late daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell last year, she put on over 100 pounds.
The difficult situation inspired her to try appetite-suppressant drugs. She revealed, “I'll be honest, I was that person a year ago that said I would never do Ozempic,” before adding, “Even three months ago - because I had the medicine in my refrigerator for a month and a half.”
Mama June continued, “But I went to like a personal physician and ran a bunch of tests to make sure I was gonna be good to use it.”
“I first started off as semaglutide, which is like Ozempic. Now I'm on Tirzepatide,” said the mother-of-four.
Mama June revealed she is losing three to four pounds a week
In another interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mama June revealed that she's lost nearly 30 lbs in nine weeks. "Even though I'm losing weight, I'm only about three to four pounds a week." She shared that she is not only working out "three to four times a week" but has also changed her eating habits, per E! News.
The matriarch continued, "It isn't as fast as a gastric sleeve or a gastric bypass, but it is doing it, like, more safer," and added, "I still have about 74.2 pounds to go."
