WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene displayed her pathetic knowledge of American history after she inaccurately listed most of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) written on Friday, July 5, the Georgia Republican indicated the average age of those who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 but managed to list only two out of the eight names correctly.

This blunder came the same day after she was called out for falsely claiming former President Donald Trump was the winner of the 2020 election in her home state of Georgia, as per Raw Story.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's historical error about Declaration of Independence

"The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 was 44 years old, but more than a dozen were 35 or younger: Thomas Jefferson: 33 John Hancock: 39 James Madison: 25 Alexander Hamilton: 21 James Monroe: 18 Aaron Burr: 20 Paul Revere: 41 George Washington: 44," Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X.

The congresswoman's historical ignorance led the social media platform to give her a fact check.

"James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, Aaron Burr, Paul Revere, and George Washington were not signers of the Declaration of Independence," X stated, along with a website link for the National Archives that contains the names of the signers.

Even after X flagged it as inaccurate, the lawmaker has not taken down the post that has garnered two million views so far.

Greene, a hardcore ally of Republican presumptive nominee Trump, is known for her vocal criticism of the Democrats as well as the Republicans opposing her agenda. Earlier this year, she erupted chaos in the House, where the GOP holds a razor-thin majority, by threatening to oust Speaker Mike Johnson. In May, she initiated a motion to immediately remove him but failed after Democratic lawmakers joined the Republicans to vote against the motion.

She also weighed in on the recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity that favored the MAGA spearhead, Trump. Greene hailed the conservative justices' decision as a "massive victory against the Democrats' weaponized government."

Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted over Declaration of Independence signers' names

Marjorie Taylor Greene faced intense backlash from social media users for wrongly naming a majority of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence.

"You got a majority of names wrong. How are you in congress!!??? We need a civics test to run for government," asked a social media user.

"OMG! Marjorie might just be the stupidest member of Congress in the history of our nation. Stop the stupid… Vote out Republicans!" another remarked.

"Are you trying to act smart? Try harder," one person said.

"Did you not learn anything about the history of our country? OMG, and you are in Congress," read another response.

"Stop. Electing. Stupid. People," another individual wrote.

"Lady, a simple google search before posting things like this would be beneficial," someone else said.

"Georgia voted in one of the most stupid people in history," one individual chimed in.

"How incredibly embarrassing that a member of Congress doesn’t even know who signed one of the most important pillars this country was founded on. Hey Georgia, elect someone who knows SOMETHING ABOUT what this country was founded on. She’s an embarrassment," another wrote.

"Most of these people didn't sign the Declaration of Independence. These are the people fighting to ban history books. Why? Because they are ignorant morons who want more just like them," one comment read.
