NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga) efforts to force her motion to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) to a vote was squashed by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, May 8.

According to Fox News, Greene moved to force a vote on her motion and noticed the resolution as "privileged," which gave the House leaders two days to take it up.

Though the Congress was taken by surprise, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La) was quick to call for another vote to table Greene's motion, which passed with overwhelming support in the House, effectively killing her proposal before the ouster vote.

Donald Trump says GOP not in position to remove Speaker Mike Johnson

The Speaker received backing from both sides of the aisle on the House floor, as well as from the former President, Donald Trump.

The table vote was reportedly passed 359 to 43, with only 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats voting against it.

Trump, who is strongly supported by Greene, also spoke up against her motion in a post on Truth Social, writing, "I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come. However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country. With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate. At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time."

Claiming to lead in the presidential polls, he continued, "But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything. Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard. I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together. It is my request that Republicans vote for 'THE MOTION TO TABLE.' We WILL WIN BIG - AND IT WILL BE SOON!"

Speaker Mike Johnson says move to remove him was 'misguided effort'

With the House GOP booing Greene and cheering upon the ouster vote being squashed, Johnson told the reporters afterward, "I want to say that I appreciate the show of confidence from my colleagues to defeat this misguided effort. That is certainly what it was."

"I've said from the beginning, and I've made clear here every day, I intend to do my job. I intend to do what I believe to be the right thing, which is what I was elected to do. And I'll let the chips fall where they may," he added.

After her motion was effectively tabled, Greene said, "I think today it has proven the uniparty is alive as well. And the Democrats now control Speaker Johnson. That was something that everybody suspected all along. They just voted to save him. And I think that's the message."

Internet blasts MTG after motion to remove Mike Johnson is tabled

The internet slammed MTG over her unsuccessful efforts.

"You failed. Miserably," said a user.

"'Uniparty' is code for 'I failed yet again'. Only 11 Republicans voted for your motion. You call out Democrats 'saving' Speaker Johnson when more Republicans voted to save him than Democrats did. See this vote for what it was Ms Greene. It was a vote against you," wrote another.

"That’s called a government. You were elected to make it better but all you do is stand on the sidelines shrieking like a harpy," jibed a third.

"You’re the problem, it’s you," chided a fourth.

"What an embarrassment you are just resign you’re annoying everyone," commented a fifth.
