Marjorie Taylor Greene claims 'deal' is done as Nancy Pelosi supports Democrats in backing Mike Johnson
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene leveled an accusation of collusion between the Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and the Democratic party on Monday, May 6, 2024.
The claim was made as Democratic Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi announced that she would support the decision of the House Democratic leadership to back Mike Johnson and prevent him from being ousted to maintain the "integrity" of the House.
Greene had brought a motion to remove Johnson as the Speaker after he passed the omnibus funding bills in March, and has doubled down on her threat to bring it to a vote after the foreign aid package was passed in April.
Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the US Representative from Georgia shared a clip of Pelosi in a hallway of the Capitol building, where she was asked by a reporter if she supported House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' stance to back Speaker Mike Johnson.
"I support our leader. I think he is very much in touch with our caucus, and yes, I support him," she replied.
"What does this say about Speaker Johnson if he has to turn to the minority party to survive?" came the follow-up question, leading to Pelosi's response, "He doesn't have to turn to the minority's support. What the minority party is saying is (that) we support the integrity of the House of Representatives, and we will not let it be littered behind nonsense."
"The entire Democrat Party is lining up behind Mike Johnson. First, it was the entire leadership team for the Democrats. Now, Nancy Pelosi, who impeached President Trump TWICE, has given Johnson her seal of approval," wrote Greene in her tweet, asking, "What deal has been made??"

Internet slams Marjorie Taylor Greene
Netizens trolled Marjorie Taylor Greene over her speculation.
"Uniting both sides of the aisle to back @SpeakerJohnson is your only accomplishment since you came to Congress. They don't take you seriously," a social medi user told Greene.

"Marjorie, even Trump has lined up behind Mike Johnson because he understands that YOU are the one who screwed House Republicans with your stunt. He literally announced his support for Mike Johnson AFTER aid for Ukraine passed. You’re only doing this for attention. Enough," wrote another.

"Last I heard, making 'deals' was part of the governing process in Congress to pay legislation which is something you know little about. Your job is to pass bills not post on X all day," jibed a third.

"It's called leadership. You're sunk MTG. I notice you didn't crack the nod to Mar a Largo with Mike Johnson. Shame," commented a fourth user.
