NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: House Democratic leadership announced that they would back Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) if the motion to vacate his chair, introduced by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) in March, was ever put to the vote and effectively save him from ouster, on Tuesday, April 30.

Congresswoman Greene soon took to X (formerly Twitter) to launch into a long rant, accusing Johnson of colluding with the Democrats. She hinted at bringing her motion to the floor to put the members on record.

What did the House Democrats say?

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar together released a statement following a meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, which read, "For months, House Republicans irresponsibly delayed critical security assistance to our democratic allies in Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific, while simultaneously blocking humanitarian assistance to civilians in harm’s way in places like Gaza, Haiti and the Sudan. Thanks to a bipartisan coalition of Democrats and Republicans, led by President Biden, we were finally able to meet the national security needs of the American people."

"From the very beginning of this Congress, House Democrats have put people over politics and found bipartisan common ground with traditional Republicans in order to deliver real results. At the same time, House Democrats have aggressively pushed back against MAGA extremism. We will continue to do just that," it continued.

"At this moment, upon completion of our national security work, the time has come to turn the page on this chapter of Pro-Putin Republican obstruction. We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed," the letter added.

How did Speaker Mike Johnson react to the Democrats' statement?

Mike Johnson claimed he was unaware about the statement when first asked about it, reported ABC News. "The first I have heard of it," he said, before adding, "Look, I have to do my job."

He denied engaging Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to secure the support of members across the aisle before passing the $95 billion foreign aid package, telling the media, "I've not requested assistance from anyone ... I'm not focused on that at all. I focused on getting the job done and getting the legislation passed."

"Listen, I am the Speaker of the House -- serves the whole body. I'm a conservative Republican, a lifelong conservative Republican. That's what my philosophy is. That's what my record is and will continue to govern on those principles. I mean, you know, you hope you have the support of everyone the entire country," he later added.

Marjorie Taylor Greene slams Democrats

The Congresswoman shared the statement from Democrats on X and wrote, "Everyday, I fight the Democrat agenda destroying America and I fight for an America First Republican agenda. Mike Johnson is officially the Democrat Speaker of the House. Here is their official endorsement of his Speakership."

"What slimy back room deal did Johnson make for the Democrats’ support? He should resign, switch parties, and continue voting for Biden’s open border invasion of America, endless wars, full term abortion on demand, trans agenda on children, warrantless spying on the American people, weaponizing government against President Trump and his supporters, and every other Democrat wishlist item he’s handed over," she added.

"If the Democrats want to elect him Speaker (and some Republicans want to support the Democrats’ chosen Speaker), I’ll give them the chance to do it," she continued. "I’m a big believer in recorded votes because putting Congress on record allows every American to see the truth and provides transparency to our votes," the Georgia Representative continued.

"Americans deserve to see the Uniparty on full display. I’m about to give them their coming out party!" exclaimed Greene in conclusion.

Internet trolls Marjorie Taylor Greene for her rant

Netizens trolled Marjorie Taylor Greene for her rant on X after House Democrats extended their support to Mike Johnson.

"You lost. Dems will save Mike Johnson. Cry harder then move on," wrote a social media user.

"Did someone lie to you and say you would never have to work with others in Congress to get things done? This includes some things you don't necessarily like. That's the way this job works. If you can't handle that, you should resign because nobody cares about your whining," stated another.

"MAGA Mike is not going anywhere. No one takes you seriously," noted a third.

"Marge got sidelined and she's mad," mocked a fourth user.

"Wasting the tax payers money every single day," jibed a fifth.
