Marjorie Taylor Greene labeled 'hateful' as her book signing event witnesses 'painfully small' turnout
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) popularity seems to be dwindling among the MAGA supporters who once celebrated her.
At a recent book signing event for her book 'MTG,' Greene faced a disappointingly small crowd.
Marjorie Taylor Greene was disheartened with the poor turnout
The event was held on the same day as Donald Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.
The event, according to a report from Salon's Amanda Marcotte, highlighted Greene's waning appeal among MAGA.
"The once-soaring MAGA star was facing down a painfully small crowd at the signing of her book 'MTG,'" Marcotte reported.
Just before the controversial congresswoman arrived, red-clad workers were seen "building big stacks of Greene's hardcover."
However, only a handful of people, adorned in American flag attire, had lined up. The report stated that "fewer than 20 people," were waiting.
When Greene finally arrived at 3 pm, she appeared visibly disheartened by the sparse crowd. Marcotte described the scene, noting that Greene muttered something to her entourage and quickly hid in a nearby room.
Free copies offered as bait in Marjorie Taylor Greene's book signing event
The situation worsened as only a few curious attendees stopped by, drawn by the presence of the press.
"This added enough people to pull Greene out of hiding," Marcotte wrote.
Despite this, a volunteer in a red shirt was seen offering free copies of the book to lure people to Greene's table, the publication noted.
The lackluster event seemed to confirm the writing on the wall for Taylor Greene, who had been relegated to a less prominent speaking slot at the RNC.
Marcotte noted that Greene was "shunted" to a Monday slot, typically reserved for figures the party wished to downplay.
She also noted that place for women in GOP was wanning, writing, "The message being sent at the GOP's 2024 convention: It's time for the gals to take a back seat."
Financial struggles for 'MTG' book sales
Earlier this year, the Daily Beast reported that Taylor Greene might not have profited from her book due to poor sales.
"It is certainly possible that Greene’s memoir didn’t sell well enough to make money last year," it noted.
Members of Congress cannot receive advances on royalties, relying instead on profits from book sales. Greene's book, published in November 2023, had only a few reviews on Amazon by the end of the year.
The memoir details the congresswoman’s time in Washington and was published by Winning Team Publishing, a company founded by Donald Trump Jr and Sergio Gor, who insiders know as “the Mayor of Mar-a-Lago.”
Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's poor book signing turnout
Internet reactions to the report suggesting poor turnout to Marjorie Taylor Greene's book signing event were harsh. Majority of the users said that people will not like to read it as they called her 'hateful.'
One user on X commented, "She never shuts up. Why would anyone need to read her book?"
Another added, "Her fans did not give her the cold shoulder. She doesn't have any fans."
Others mocked, "Her few supporters clearly aren’t readers," and "Hey, @RepMTG You deserve ALL the scorn and shunning. That's what happens to hateful trunts."
Another comment read, "MAGA can’t read." Another one wrote, "The media is to blame for helping to create her persona. She gets as much coverage as Trump."
