WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Mark Kelly has expressed shock that President Donald Trump's officials mulled a bomb strike in leaked war plans as if they were 'ordering a pizza'.

Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was mistakenly added to a secret group chat on the messaging app Signal.

The chat had discussions about a bombing operation in Yemen, with precise details on weapons, targets, and the timing of the attack before it occurred, as per the report.

Mark Kelly blasts casual war talk on Signal

During a conversation with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Monday, March 24 evening, Mark Kelly said that this kind of information being sent over a Signal group chat is astonishing, per Raw Story.

He said, "I don't know anybody on the Intelligence Committee here that I serve on that would have done anything close to this kind of conversation."

Meanwhile, Cooper said, "Speaker Johnson downplayed this. He said that they'll tighten up. It doesn't seem like there's much — publicly at least — outrage by your Republican colleagues."

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM - FEBRUARY 13: U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth holds his closing press conference at the end of defense ministers' meetings at NATO headquarters on February 13, 2025 in Brussels, Belgium. NATO Defence Ministers are convening in Brussels for a meeting chaired by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Hegseth marked the first visit to NATO by a member of the new Trump administration. High on the agenda for the allies will be ascertaining how the U.S. intends to influence the trajectory of the war in Ukraine, as the conflict nears the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. He added, "Obviously if this was a Democratic administration and this had been Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody else, it would have been a different tune. Are you surprised? Do you expect any kind of hearings here?"

Kelly replied, "Well, Anderson, we have a hearing tomorrow, an open hearing about worldwide threats on the Senate Intelligence Committee. And I can guarantee you that this topic is going to come up tomorrow in an open hearing."

Meanwhile, Anderson inquired, "The CIA director is supposed to be there, right?" and Kelly confirmed, "CIA director will be there. He was one of the individuals on this text chain."

The senator then added, "I think the other thing that I noticed is just the discussion that they were having over Signal. It was almost like they were deciding to order a pizza. And it's not the kind of conversation you would expect between the principals when they're deciding to commit troops to combat in a foreign country."

He said that he was shocked by not only how this was done on the platform Signal, but also by the lack of depth in the discussion before sending Navy pilots over the beach to drop bombs where there was a significant threat.

Internet fumes as Mark Kelly compares Trump officials' bomb strike conversation to 'ordering a pizza'

People on the internet shared their views as Mark Kelly was shocked that Trump's officials mulled a bomb strike in leaked war plans as if they were 'ordering a pizza'.

An online comment read, "Why are the Senators shocked? They did know that he was that callously inappropriate during his confirmation hearing, after all," while one added, "Stop being "shocked"! We know who they are! How about every Democrat in the country starts calling for the impeachment of the insane criminal in the White House."

A person also stated, "Ummm, is anyone shocked by this? Really? I'm not. This is precisely the level of consideration, erudition, and gravitas that Trump and his team bring to all governance."

One mentioned, "Stupid and evil is a bad combination. Any one taking bets when Hegseth goes to court and then to jail like so many people from Trump's last cabinet."

A user also wrote, "These same people were absolutely freaking out over Hillary's 'unsecure email server'. All of that was fake. This is real," while one commented, "Is anyone really surprised? Come on now, trump’s cabinet is a cavalcade of amateur clowns who have no idea of what they’re doing."
