Matthew McConaughey reveals to Jimmy Fallon how Six Flags recovered his phone from a swamp
LOS ANGELES, CALLIFORNIA: Matthew McConaughey recently shared an amusing roller coaster saga on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
The actor, known for his laid-back demeanor, recounted a thrilling day at Six Flags Fiesta in San Antonio, where a seemingly ordinary ride turned into a phone-rescue mission.
McConaughey began the tale with an impromptu decision driven by his daughter's desire to celebrate her birthday with roller coasters.
"Vida, my daughter, the one with the birthday on the 3rd of January, wants to go ride roller coasters for her birthday," he exclaimed.
The McConaughey family wasted no time, heading to Six Flags on the morning of January 3 for a day filled with roller coaster adventures.
"We rode every roller coaster at least three times," McConaughey chuckled, emphasizing the enthusiasm that kept them on the rides for hours. Little did he know that the day's 26th and final roller coaster ride would take an unexpected turn.
Misadventure of the flying phone
As the father, McConaughey had taken the responsibility of carrying everyone's essentials snacks, sunglasses, water, and, of course, phones. However, the thrill of the roller coasters proved to be too much for one crucial item.
"And on the very last ride, just as we finish behind me, Livingston and Vida are going, they go, 'Papa, I think your phone flew out on that last loop'," McConaughey recounted.
The actor initially dismissed the notion, confident that he had everything under control. However, a security guard, who had been recording their adventure, shattered that confidence.
"I think your phone did fly out," he informed McConaughey, revealing a frame-by-frame analysis of the phone soaring above the children's heads during an upside-down loop.
Swampy search for lost phone
McConaughey's phone had taken an adventurous detour into a swamp. Six Flags staff assured him that they couldn't immediately retrieve it due to the ongoing park hours but pledged to launch a search operation once the park closed for the night.
"The next afternoon at 6 pm, my phone shows up in the mail," McConaughey exclaimed, marveling at the efficiency of the amusement park staff. Against the odds, they had located the phone in the swamp and promptly sent it back to its owner.
Epic finale
The actor said, "They found it and sent it to me." Fallon then asked " And did it work?"
As everyone waited with anticipation to hear the answer, McConaughey said, "It worked!"
The audience cheered hearing this. McConaughey rounded off a roller coaster story that went beyond the loops and turns of the theme park rides.
