MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: During Tuesday, December 12, episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', Elle Fanning shared an amusing revelation on her genuine, long-standing belief that Bill Hader is her doppelganger.

Fanning said, "At the Emmys last year, I was on the hunt for Bill Hader, because I swear, I think I look like him," following which, Fallon asked if she owns a mirror.

According to the 'Maleficent' actress, her little pet theory was spawned by an X (formerly Twitter) thread one of her friends shared with her that compared their faces side-by-side.

"I think it’s the nose," explained Fanning, adding, "We look like we live in Whoville."

The actress also narrated how she and her co-star, Nicholas Hoult, from 'The Great', made quite the scene at the 2022 Emmys in their quest to locate Hader. They eventually discovered him donning a mask, a detail Fanning found reassuring.

She quipped, "Because if he wasn't, people probably would have gotten confused" and mistaken them for each other.

Regrettably, they missed the chance to take a photo together, prompting a crucial question if anyone has ever witnessed them sharing the same space.

There exists a somewhat blurry photo from last year's Emmys on X (formerly Twitter), supposedly featuring Hader, Hoult, and Fanning in one room.

However, with none of their faces distinctly visible, it falls short of serving as definitive proof that Hader and Fanning aren't, in fact, the same person.

Elle Fanning thinks she and Bill Hader 'have the same nose'

Fanning initially disclosed her unwavering belief in her connection with Hader during an interview with Access Hollywood in September 2022, as per Entertainment Weekly.

She talked to the outlet about being completely on board with being his biggest fan during the 2022 Emmys, especially when it involved capturing a photo together as she exclaimed, "I would die. I've gotta reel him in!"

On meeting Hader, she declared, "We have the same nose!" after the actor was gracious enough to lower his mask to reveal his nose.

If that wasn't sufficient to convince people, Fanning then gazed into the camera with a knowing look, almost challenging viewers to refute her claim. While they do share light eyes and a button nose, that seems to be the resemblance between the two.

Having said that Hader, has never publicly acknowledged any resemblance to Fanning, the actress was intrigued to see if he could recognize it.

She noted, "Well, I want to keep some of it a mystery because I think you kind of got to go to see what's truly about. But, it's three siblings, the Lafayette siblings, that come back to their father's home, who has just passed away."

"And they're cleaning up their house and they discover objects and things that kind of cause chaos. They're kind of an estranged family, and it's very funny, but it's also a big kind of family drama," added the actress.

Subsequently, Fallon noted that the opening night of the play is December 18 and that its run has already been extended through March 3, 2024.
