Max Greenfield praises Taylor Swift's 'New Girl' cameo: 'She was a better actor than all of us'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Max Greenfield has complimented Taylor Swift’s acting skills and called her “a better actor than all of us” while recalling her cameo in the ‘New Girl’ series. 

The Grammy-winning singer appeared on the Season 2 finale episode, "Elaine’s Big Day," in 2013. In the episode, she played Elaine, who was in love with the character of Shivrang.

Now 13 years later, Greenfield, who played Schmidt in the sitcom, has shared that “Taylor wasn’t quite yet Taylor, but I remember she was on set and we were hanging out and she was so kind,” on the Friday, August 14, episode of Jake Shane’s ‘Therapuss’ podcast.

“She was a better actor than all of us,” he claimed.

The 46-year-old actor even revealed what he and Swift discussed at the time.

He said, “I remember asking her, I said, ‘Can I ask you a question?’ And she was like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ And I go, ‘If you could play, like, to an intimate audience or a big arena, what do you prefer?’ And she goes, without missing a beat, she goes, ‘If you could fill the ocean with people, I’d like to play for that.’”

Jake Johnson praised Taylor Swift, called her 'sweet and funny'

Like Greenfield, his former co-star Jake Johnson, who was seen as Nick Miller in the series, also had only nice words for the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker.

In 2024, during the ‘We’re Here to Help’ podcast, the 48-year-old had said, “She’s such a huge star but her vibe isn’t bad. She’s sweet. She’s funny. A lot of big stars, they have their own hair and makeup. The first time I met her, I was going to my lady in the corner … and there was a random blonde lady sitting in one of the chairs.”

“You would expect her to come fully ready from their own thing, not talk to anybody,” Johnson recalled, before adding that Swift liked to be easily integrated into the rest of the cast and crew.

'New Girl' cast will reunite soon for charity

Meanwhile, Greenfield’s latest comment came as it was reported that the ‘New Girl’ cast, including Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone, and Damon Wayans Jr will have a charity reunion in October.

As per Johnson, Greenfield “is involved in that and he just sent a text to the group. He said, ‘Can you guys do this with me so it could help try to raise money for this organization?’ And we all just said yes.”
