NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly believed that the false rumors about Beyonce performing on the final night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago originated from within the Democratic Party in an effort to boost their ratings.

The former Fox News host made the claim on the Friday, August 23, episode of her podcast, 'The Megyn Kelly Show'. Despite her conjecture, the DNC has never made any announcement of the pop icon attending the event, reported The Wrap.

Megyn Kelly's take on Beyonce DNC appearance rumor

“This is why I think they released the lie about Beyonce allegedly showing up at the event last night. They wanted to boost ratings. That would be absolutely stupid to say she’s coming when you know she’s not coming if it didn’t have a real purpose," Megyn Kelly stated during the episode with guests Rich Lowry and Charles CW Cooke of National Review.

"Why would you say, 'We almost got her and we didn’t’ and just disappoint everybody? But it does make sense if your goal is to boost the numbers… I think the whole ‘Beyonce is coming, she’s not coming’ thing was a ruse to boost the ratings," she continued.

Kelly went on to call out journalists who were present at the event and tweeting updates and singled out MSNBC’s Katie Phang in her attack, calling her a hopeful high school prom girl.

“Katie Phang over at MSNBC, absolutely humiliated herself with these moment-to-moment updates… she just deleted them. She’s deleted her tweets out of humiliation… All I could think is the girl at the high school prom, like ‘He’s still coming. He’ll be here. I see a headlight.’ No, she’s not coming," Kelly added.

Internet backs Megyn Kelly after she slams DNC for Beyonce rumor

Conservative social media users agreed with Megyn Kelly's remarks about Beyonce's rumored performance at the DNC.

In the comments section of the show's YouTube video, one social media user wrote, "It was not just ratings, it was to prevent the attendees from leaving before Kamala's speech."

"She never was contacted, just another lie," said another.

"She was a smart lady not to lend her name/talent to such losers," stated one person.

"No Beyonce. No Taylor Swift. No chance in hell for a victory," added another.

"Bait and switch. Go figure," one individual remarked.

"Total ploy to get people to watch. Pathetic and pathetic if people don't see through the smoke," noted another.
