The 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC), held from August 19 to 22 at Chicago’s United Center, was a mega event that many A-listers attended to show their support for Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Celebrities such as Kerry Washington, Eva Longoria, Mindy Kaling, and many more, made their presence felt during the convention. Let us take a look at 15 notable people who showed up at the DNC to support Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
1. Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington, known for her role in 'Scandal', was the host for the final night of the DNC. She brought her 'Scandal' co-star Tony Goldwyn to the stage after her speech, followed by Harris' grandnieces, Amara and Leela Ajagu, to demonstrate to everyone how to correctly pronounce Harris’ first name.
2. Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria from 'Desperate Housewives' was also one of the celebrities present during the DNC and spoke briefly on behalf of Texas delegates on Tuesday, August 20, before giving the mic to former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.
3. Mindy Kaling
'The Office' writer and actress Mindy Kaling was the third celebrity to host the 2024 DNC as she took the mic on Wednesday, August 21. She reflected on her relationship with Harris, about the time they bonded over Indian food, and also joked that she was the one who "outed Kamala Harris as Indian."
4. Octavia Spencer
Octavia Spencer co-hosted a concert at the DNC which was organized by the Creative Coalition, a nonprofit advocacy group consisting of members of the American entertainment industry.
5. DL Hughley
Comedian DL Hughley also gave a speech at the DNC where he criticized GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's comment that he didn't realize Kamala Harris was a Black woman. He said Harris "has been Black longer than Trump's been Republican."
6. Pink
Singer-songwriter Alecia Beth Hart Moore, famously known as Pink, performed her 2017 track 'What About Us' ahead of Harris' official nomination at the DNC. She was accompanied by her 13-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart.
7. Oprah Winfrey
Popular talk show host Oprah Winfrey surprised everyone with an appearance at the DNC, in her hometown of Chicago, on Wednesday. In her speech, Winfrey said she was a registered Independent and called on other independent voters and Democrats to back the Harris-Walz ticket and "choose common sense over nonsense."
8. Kenan Thompson
Comedian and 'Saturday Night Live' star Kenan Thompson took to the DNC stage on Wednesday with a large prop book that represented Project 2025, a document prepared by right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation. While on stage, Thompson spoke to voters over video call and pointed out how they could be affected by Project 2025's proposed policies.
9. Stevie Wonder
Grammy and Academy Award winner Stevie Wonder performed his 1972 song 'Higher Ground' on Wednesday. Before his performance, Wonder shared a message of unity and said, "We must keep on keeping on until we are truly a united people of these United States and then we will reach a higher ground."
10. John Legend
John Legend performed on Wednesday before Democratic running mate Tim Walz’s remarks. He performed a rendition of Prince’s 1984 hit 'Let’s Go Crazy' with singer Sheila E and Ari O'Neal.
11. Maren Morris
Grammy-winning country singer and songwriter Maren Morris also took the stage at the DNC on Wednesday and performed her protest song 'Better Than We Found It' which was released in 2020 after the death of George Floyd.
12. Sean Astin
Sean Astin, known for his roles in 'Rudy' and 'The Lord of the Rings', attended the DNC on Tuesday's roll call to help pledge Indiana's 86 delegates for Harris and Walz. He said, "I want what's best for Indiana. That means electing Kamala Harris the first woman president of the United States of America."
13. Common
Grammy and Academy Award-winning rapper Common performed his 2024 track 'Fortunate' during the second day of the DNC. He also adapted his lyrics to include a message for Harris by rapping, “We fortunate, y’all, for Kamala Harris,” much to the delight of the crowd. He was also joined by gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds during the chorus.

Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Lil Jon attended the DNC on Tuesday and turned the roll call into a dance party as he unexpectedly performed his 2013 hit 'Turn Down for What'.
