Megyn Kelly appeals for 'prayers' for Erika Kirk and her family amid Tyler Robinson trial
WASHINGTON, DC: Megyn Kelly got pretty emotional on her show this week, asking people to have some compassion for Erika Kirk and her family.
She told anyone who doubts Erika just to keep those thoughts to themselves while the family goes through something she called "beyond human." Kelly said this as the penalty phase began in the trial of Tyler Robinson, the person convicted of killing conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Megyn Kelly says Erika Kirk faces what 'no human should have to endure'
Speaking with visible emotion, Kelly focused her remarks not on the legal proceedings but on the toll the trial is taking on Erika and the couple's two young children.

Whether you like her or you don't like her, hopefully the human inside of you can see how difficult this is for her and the family... It's just beyond human… pic.twitter.com/pB9sWrg9nG

"It's been kind of crazy to watch Erika have to sit through this and have to deal with all of this," Kelly said. "I really, really wish that the people who have doubts about Erika Kirk would just keep them quiet this week."
Kelly said that regardless of how people feel about Erika personally, the moment demands basic human empathy.
"Whether you like her or you don't like her, hopefully the human inside of you can see how difficult this is for her and the family to sit in there and have to listen to this and have to be feet away from Tyler Robinson," she said.
Erika Kirk has been present in the courtroom throughout the proceedings, sitting feet away from Robinson as harrowing details of the case have been presented to the jury.
Kelly noted that the family has been shielded from the most graphic portions of the testimony but has still been present for much of the trial's most disturbing details.
"They're removing themselves for the most graphic pieces of the testimony, but they're hearing enough," Kelly said. "This is gonna be intensely upsetting."
Megyn Kelly gets emotional for Erika Kirk
Kelly's most emotional moment came when she described what Erika faces at the end of each day in court.
"Every night, Erika goes home to Charlie's two children who have no father and still has to struggle with helping them understand what happened to him," Kelly said. "It's just beyond human what is being asked of the family."
She then made a direct appeal to her audience. "I beg for you to keep them in your prayers, infuse them with strength, with some sort of serenity to get through this, with the ability to keep this in perspective," Kelly said.
Kelly also recalled a statement Erika had made earlier in the proceedings about where she believes true accountability lies.
Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, began crying before the hearing started and she left the courtroom as a police officer described how Charlie was shot. Donald Trump Jr is also attending the hearing with his wife.
