WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent interview on Fox News, former first lady Melania Trump made bold claims regarding her contributions to hurricane relief efforts during her husband's presidency, as reported by The Daily Beast.

As Donald Trump works to return to the White House as president, Melania's remarks have stirred trolling reactions from across the internet.

Melania claimed in her recent interview that in contrast to her visiting the disaster-struck areas and helping people through food, storytelling, and praying with them when her husband was in office, the current Biden administration has turned a blind eye to those suffering in these disasters.

Melania Trump claims she prayed with hurricane victims during Trump administration

During her appearance on 'Sunday Morning Futures', Melania Trump shared how she would approach future disasters if her husband Donald Trump were to return to the White House.

Speaking with host Maria Bartiromo, she emphasized the importance of connecting with private businesses to provide disaster relief.

“I think what they need to do and what we can do is connect with businesses,” Melania stated. “So, you know, private businesses and big businesses... that they could help establish foundations, that they could help those people in need.”

However, the former first lady was vague in detailing which businesses she believed should be involved or how these partnerships would work.

While her comments lacked specifics, she shifted the focus to her personal experiences of providing support during disasters, particularly when the Trump administration dealt with Hurricane Maria.

“I remember when I visited states when there was a hurricane,” Melania recalled, “I was there with people, I was praying with them, sharing the stories and also serving the food, and we were there with FEMA helping them.”

Her recollection of praying and sharing stories with victims of natural disasters, particularly Hurricane Maria, sparked immediate backlash.

For many, the memory of her husband’s administration's delayed response to the crisis in Puerto Rico overshadowed her attempts to frame herself as a comforting presence.

In contrast to Melania's narrative, the reality of the Trump administration’s handling of Hurricane Maria was mired in controversy.

Critics point to the weeks of delay before aid was fully distributed, with thousands of Puerto Ricans left waiting for the necessary resources to rebuild their lives.

The long-term effects of the administration's slow action are still felt in many parts of the island.
