Melania shares why Trump calls her personal doctor as memoir reveals surprising details of their marriage
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former first lady Melania Trump opened up about previously unshared details of her marriage with former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump in her memoir titled 'Melania', which will be released on Tuesday, October 8.
A copy of the 184-page book was acquired by The Daily Beast, which claimed that it contains a few surprising revelations about the couple's marriage, including Trump calling Melania's personal doctor regularly and her being an election denier.
Why does Donald Trump check in with Melania's personal doctor?
Melania Trump vividly detailed her relationship with Trump in her memoir, claiming that the couple with an age difference of 24 years has "chemistry" in spite of their “political differences.”
In an early section, she praised him for taking an active interest in her well-being and shared that he calls her doctor regularly for that reason.
"As I got to know him better, I realized the public only saw a part of Donald Trump. In private he revealed himself as a gentleman, displaying tenderness and thoughtfulness," she wrote.
“For example, Donald, to this day, calls my personal doctor to check in on my health, to ensure that I am okay and that they are taking perfect care of me. He isn’t flashy or dramatic, just genuine and caring.”
Melania Trump describes her first meeting with Donald Trump
The former model described her first meeting with the business tycoon in 1998 for over 5 pages in the book. He was 52 at the time and twice married, while she was 28 and living in Manhattan.
Melania was invited by a friend to a Friday night party at the Kit Kat Klub, where Trump came up and introduced himself in the VIP section. She said that she recognized the name and "knew he was a businessman or a celebrity, but not much else."
“I found myself drawn to his magnetic energy," she shared, even though Trump had a date that evening. She resisted sharing her number with Trump but made the businessman share his. She only called him after a modeling trip to the Caribbean, but insisted that “the connection between us was palpable.”
Hitting back at accusations of being a 'gold-digger'
The couple went for their first date at his property in Bedford when Donald Trump told her that he was in the process of divorcing his second wife Marla Maples.
"I refrained from passing any judgment, choosing instead to enjoy his company,” wrote Melania. "He was a bit older than me, but I, at the age of 28, felt an instant connection with him.”
While talking about being labeled a gold-digger, Melania stated, "I had earned my fortune and could easily have captured the attention of numerous celebrities if I had so desired."
After moving into the Trump Tower four years into their relationship, Melania shared that she enjoyed cooking for him. "Whenever he had music playing at home, he’d crank up the volume and pull me into a spontaneous dance.”
Marriage and Melania's relationship with Trump's children
Melania Trump boasted of her wedding in the memoir, which took place in Mar-a-Lago with “500 celebrity guests.”
However, she hinted at tensions while describing the "intricate dynamics" of her interaction with Trump's four children from previous marriages, whom she named only once.
"While I do not agree with every opinion or choice expressed by Donald’s grown children, nor do I align with all of Donald’s decisions, I acknowledge that differing viewpoints are a natural aspect of human relationships," she stated.
Melania Trump on being an unrepentant election denier
Though Melania said that she had difference in opinions with her husband, including most prominently on reproductive rights, she stood firly by him in refusing to accept that he lost the 2020 election.
She detailed the election night in the White House and complained about Fox News calling Arizona for President Joe Biden “before all the votes were counted."
"Many Americans still have doubts about the election to this day,” she wrote, without acknowledging her husband and his supporters' role in creating that doubt in the first place. "I am not the only person who questions the results,” Melania added.
