NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Melania Trump, who has been noticeably absent from her husband Donald Trump's campaign trail, made a rare appearance at the New York's Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday, October 27.

The crowd was naturally surprised when the former first lady took the stage to introduce the GOP nominee as the Trump campaign hadn't announced her as one of the speakers.

In her speech, which lasted under five minutes, Melania Trump argued that the country is experiencing a decline in the quality of life.

She urged, "Let us charge together with a shared vision that builds on American greatness. Let’s seize this moment and create a country for tomorrow — the future that we deserve."

The former first lady has seldom participated in public campaign events alongside her husband. The Madison Square Garden event marked her first appearance at a rally in this election cycle. She was present at the Republican National Convention in July but did not address the audience.

Melania, however, hosted two fundraisers for the LGBTQ organization Log Cabin Republicans: one at Mar-a-Lago in Florida and another in New York City, according to The Hill.

The former model caused a stir earlier this month when she expressed her support for abortion rights and women's autonomy over their bodies "based on their own convictions" in her memoir.

Donald Trump hosts grand rally at Madison Square Garden just days before Election Day

The Madison Square Garden rally comes a mere nine days before Election Day. Donald Trump and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, are currently busy delivering their concluding appeals to the electorate.

Nearly 30 speakers preceded the former president at the event, including his running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Hulk Hogan, Elon Musk, Rudy Giuliani, Robert F Kennedy Jr, and his sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr, among others.

Approximately 19,000 people are said to have attended the New York City rally.

The upcoming election is anticipated to be tightly contested. As of Sunday night, FiveThirtyEight's national polling average shows Harris with a 1.3-point lead, while RealClearPolitics' average indicates Trump is ahead by 0.1 points, as per Forbes.

Trump has been campaigning in New York, a state that hasn't favored a Republican since Ronald Reagan in 1984, whereas Harris has focused her efforts in Philadelphia.
