PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Melania Trump has revealed a personal culinary aversion that she maintained during her global travels as First Lady.

In her new memoir, 'Melania', set for release on October 8, she opened up about her refusal to eat raw fish, no matter where she was in the world.

Melania Trump's state dinner dilemma

Melania Trump's refusal to eat raw fish became a topic of concern during the former First couple’s visit to Japan in May 2019.

She attended the dinner in a stunning light pink and silver-feathered caped dress, a nod to the formal black-tie event hosted by Japan’s royal family.

During the formal state visit, she made her distaste for sushi known to her staff ahead of a highly anticipated black-tie dinner hosted by Japan's Emperor and Empress at the Imperial Palace.

Although sushi is a hallmark of Japanese cuisine, the menu that evening was carefully curated to respect Melania's preferences.

"I made it known that I do not eat raw fish," she writes in her memoir, detailing how her request was accommodated at the formal dinner in Tokyo, according to Daily Mail.

“However, I still made an effort to try local cuisine whenever possible. That night in Tokyo, the meal was a delicious blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the best of Japanese cuisines while accommodating my preferences," she adds.

They dined on a six-course meal which consisted turbot a la meunière sauce tomate and consomme a la royale.

True to her wishes, no raw fish was served.

During the same trip, she and Donald Trump dined with then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie Abe, at a traditional Japanese restaurant, where sushi was left off the menu yet again.

Melania Trump's personal revelations amid political life

In her 256-page memoir, Melania Trump offers a rare glimpse into her personal life.

The book covers her time as First Lady but avoids delving into some of the more controversial moments, such as allegations of infidelity surrounding her husband Trump.

The memoir instead focuses on Melania’s life before politics, with stories from her childhood in Slovenia, her early career, and her experience raising her son Barron Trump in New York.

It also includes a collection of personal photos, giving readers a closer look at the life of a woman who has often remained private despite the public nature of her role.

Perhaps one of the most surprising revelations in the book is Melania's support for a woman’s right to choose when it comes to abortion, a position that stands in contrast to Trump's public stance on the issue.
