Fashion writer Liana Satenstein shared the discovery with her Neverworns Substack readers, crediting a friend, Patricia Torvalds, for stumbling across the listing while searching for vintage Dior pieces.

The seller, whose identity remains undisclosed, claims that she purchased the gown directly from Melania for $70,000 ahead of her own wedding in 2010.

The seller has admitted to making several alterations to the dress, including adding a new satin layer, embroidery details, additional fabric at the back, and even adding straps modifications that diverge from the original masterpiece featured on the cover of Vogue in February 2005.

Melania’s wedding gown was a showstopper with 300 feet of white duchesse satin, crystal embroidery requiring 550 hours of handwork, and a dramatic 16-foot veil. The dress, which weighed a staggering 60 pounds, was handpicked by Melania in Paris with the help of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
