Melania Trump’s sudden Epstein presser leaves experts questioning what prompted it: ‘Why now?’
WASHINGTON, DC: The first lady, Melania Trump, held a press conference on Thursday, April 9, to deny any connection with disgraced financier Jefferey Epstein, which has sparked speculation among political experts about whether something damaging was dropped.
In the press conference, she insisted that she had “never been friends” with Epstein, who died in his jail cell in 2019, awaiting trial.
Melania Trump denies connections with Epstein
Holding a sudden presser on Epstein, Melania Trump on Thursday took on people who were allegedly associating her with Epstein and his girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, insisting that she had no friendship with them.
“Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach. To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My email applied to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence. My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trivial note,” Melania said.
She also urged Congress to allow Epstein victims to testify in public.
Earlier, President Donald Trump’s friendship with Epstein and his girlfriend and accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, raised uncomfortable questions about Trump’s awareness of the crimes and his involvement in them.
While Trump has denied any implication in any wrongdoing, documents released by the Department of Justice claim a continued conversation between Epstein and Trump, as Trump’s name is mentioned numerous times in the document.
