Michael Moore blasts Joe Biden over foreign policy, accuses President of paving the way for World War III
WASHINGTON, DC: Progressive filmmaker and activist Michael Moore has sharply criticized President Joe Biden by accusing him of leading the US into "World War III" and ruining his legacy as the country's commander-in-chief.
In an open letter to Biden published on his Substack on Saturday, November 23, Moore expressed his frustration with the president's foreign policy decisions and warned that Biden’s actions were taking the country in the wrong direction, Fox News reported.
Michael Moore slams Joe Biden for ignoring his advice
Michael Moore, who had previously suggested that Joe Biden could leave the White House as "a hero" by ending aid to Israel and forgiving all student loan and medical debt, addressed the president once again in his letter.
The acclaimed director said that Biden had ignored his advice. "My suggestions were all about cementing your status as a ‘Great President’ — about shaping your legacy," Moore wrote. "You, on the other hand, seem to be trying to cement your legacy as a warmonger — doubling down on some of your worst mistakes and worst impulses."
The filmmaker directly challenged Biden’s actions, asking, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" He criticized the president for escalating US' involvement in foreign conflicts, specifically the war in Ukraine.
Moore expressed outrage over Biden’s approval of weapons deliveries to Ukraine, including long-range missiles that have been used to target Russian territory, and the sending of anti-personnel mines to the region.
"LAND MINES, Joe? Seriously? THIS is your legacy? This is how you want to go out? In a blaze of horror? Like, if Joe’s gotta go, we all gotta go with him… right into World War III?" Moore angrily asked.
Michael Moore slams Joe Biden's actions on Israel and Palestine
Micahel Moore also condemned Joe Biden’s actions in relation to Israel and Palestine, particularly the president’s veto of a United Nations Security Council draft resolution that called for an "unconditional cease-fire" in Gaza.
"The only country speaking out in favor of more death and destruction was the one you and I are citizens of. This is your legacy, Joe?" Moore asked.
The letter concluded with Moore urging Biden to use his presidential power to make lasting change, specifically by passing the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which would create a constitutional right to abortion. "You have the power to do this, Joe. You have the power to make this your legacy," Moore pleaded. "So, Joe, I’m really telling you for the last time: JUST DO IT."
