Miley Cyrus drops last name from social media and website ahead of new music release
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Miley Cyrus has unexpectedly removed her last name from her social media pages and official website, reintroducing herself simply as “Miley” ahead of her highly anticipated new music.
The 33-year-old singer made the change shortly before the expected release of her 10th studio album. The upcoming record is expected to mark a new chapter for Cyrus after she signed with Atlantic Records in late July.

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker posted a red and black photo of herself on different online platforms, and its caption simply read, “MILEY.”
Cyrus has not given any explanation behind her decision, but the move has fueled speculation that she is marking a new era after signing with Atlantic Records. Her 10th studio album is expected to be released soon, although a release date has yet to be announced.

Cyrus discussed her new music in a Q&A for Wonderland magazine with actress Daryl Hannah.
“This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered. There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life,” she revealed.
The former child actress also added, “But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras. That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself.”

This came soon after Miley lost her godmother Dolly Parton on August 25. Parton was 80 and died in Nashville, Tennessee.
In a heartfelt social media tribute, she wrote, “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.”
Calling the late icon her “angel”, the Grammy winner said, “What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis."
“I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things,” Miley added.
