NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Host Mika Brzezinski defended President Joe Biden's bid for reelection even after acknowledging his abysmal performance in the presidential debate during the opening monologue of the Monday, July 1, episode of MSNBC's 'Morning Joe'.

The President faced off against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump for a closely moderated debate at the Atlanta studio of CNN, where his performance reportedly left the Democratic Party and his supporters shocked, with many calling for him to step out of the 2024 presidential race.

Speaking in a hoarse voice, Biden appeared frozen at times while struggling to gather his thoughts and articulate his answers on stage, according to the New York Post.

Mika Brzezinski's take on Joe Biden's debate performance

“It was bad… (Biden) couldn’t seem to land a thought. It was an unmitigated disaster by any measure," stated Brzezinski about the debate before voicing her counter to the “global call” for Biden to drop out and make way for a new party candidate.

As a family friend of the President, she portrayed him as a lifetime underdog who would rise from the ashes in November.

Praising the "winning sparkle" in the eyes and the "winning smile" that Biden displayed at a North Carolina rally after the debate, the host shared, "I still believe in Joe Biden. I’ve learned that counting him out is always a mistake and doing that now could be catastrophic for our country.”

Brzezinski brought up Biden's schedule ahead of the debate, with back-to-back trips to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, then to Italy for the G7 Climate Summit, then to Los Angeles before heading back to the East Coast, and called out his aides for better "management".

“It makes me angry that he was moving across the world on four different time zones,” she said. “It seems to me this is a lack of discipline.”

Referring to the numerous “sneering, mocking, jeering” headlines published by media outlets across the country, Brzesinksi said Biden has been “counted out” many times throughout his life, professional and personal, before bouncing back.

“Age is wisdom and experience that in the case of Joe Biden leads to more bipartisan legislation passed than any president over the past few generations and the largest expansion of NATO’s alliance in history,” said the host, claiming that the United States is “stronger economically and militarily” under Biden than “any time in half a century.”

She further noted that Biden had “negotiated the toughest, most conservative border control bill in decades, only to see it get torpedoed by Donald Trump.”

The choice between Bidrn and Trump in the upcoming election was described by Brzezinski as “one terribly bad night versus a decade of destruction to our core beliefs, our democratic values, and yes, our constitution.”

She claimed Biden was "a man slowed down by a cold" as opposed to Trump, who was "a man with a cold, vile and merciless heart.”

Internet trolls Mika Brzezinski's 'out-of-touch' monologue supporting Joe Biden

Netizens slammed Brzezinski on Facebook and mocked her take on the debate and Joe Biden's debate.

"I commend her for being able to do that with a straight face," wrote a social media user.

"So out of touch," stated another.

"The debate did not prove he is unfit to run for office. It proved he is unfit to be in office now," one person noted.

"Please get real and face the facts," expressed another.

"Completely delusional," one individual added.
