WASHINGTON, DC: The internet is slamming President Joe Biden's administration after a Florida woman, who got caught stealing and selling first daughter Ashley Biden's diary among other items to a right-wing media outlet just before the 2020 election, was sentenced to one month in federal jail and three months of house arrest, according to CNBC.

Individuals online didn't hold back, throwing all sorts of insults at Biden and slamming his administration, claiming they're corrupt for sending someone to prison over stealing a diary.

According to CNBC, 41-year-old Aimee Harris has been ordered to forfeit $20,000 and serve three years of probation for her involvement in stealing and selling items belonging to Ashley, with sentencing taking place in US District Court in Manhattan, where a lawyer for Ashley Biden was present.

Before her sentencing, Assistant US Attorney Robert Sobelman stated that Harris had displayed a “pattern of disrespect for the law and the justice system,” and her motivation for the theft was primarily financial gain and to politically harm President Biden, as reported by the Associated Press.

Sobelman highlighted, “She wanted to damage Ms Biden’s father." Prosecutors had recommended a jail sentence of four to 10 months for Harris, as per federal sentencing guidelines.

As per CNBC, Harris, whose sentencing was delayed multiple times upon her request, requested probation without jail time. Despite receiving a lighter sentence than requested by prosecutors, Judge Swain described Harris’ actions as "despicable."

The judge noted that Harris initially attempted to sell Ashley’s items to the campaign of former President Donald Trump, who was serving in the position at that time.

Harris mentioned, “I do not believe I am above the law. I’m a survivor of long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma.”

Harris pleaded guilty in August 2022 to conspiring with 60-year-old Robert Kurlander to steal Ashley’s possessions from a Delray, Florida, residence and transport them across state lines for sale.

According to court records, Harris discovered Ashley’s diary, containing deeply personal entries, along with a digital storage card, which she and Kurlander later sold to the right-wing group Project Veritas for $20,000 each.

Kurlander is scheduled for sentencing on October 25.

This sentencing comes after a federal judge ruled that prosecutors could access documents seized by the FBI related to a criminal investigation of the diary theft, involving Project Veritas.

According to CNBC, James O'Keefe, who used to be the CEO of Project Veritas, said that they decided not to publish Ashley Biden's diary because they couldn't confirm if it was real, if it belonged to her, or if what was written in it happened.

Internet users call the Bidens corrupt

However, many online were not pleased with the one-month sentencing for the theft. A user on Facebook called out Biden and his administration and wrote, "Most corrupt administration ever".

Another user wrote, "But murderers get set free ! This abuse of power and double standards in our justice system must stop!!"

A user commented, "Being democrats in charge of the government there is abuse of power .It's communism or socialism in progress."

Another user commented, "Corruption. Just sad this is happening. It will come back to haunt them in the biblical sense".

A user stated, "Well thank you for confirming that the diary is real! Talk about a two-tier Justice system, this is sick!!!!"

Another user stated, "Bidens are corrupt need to go to jail all of them".
