WASHINGTON, DC: Nancy Mace stirred political conversation over the weekend after posting a strong message about the SAVE America Act, making it clear she sees little room for disagreement on the issue.

Her comments, shared on Saturday, March 28, came at a time when the proposed legislation was already drawing strong reactions from both sides.

Mace didn’t mince words when addressing those who are not backing the bill.

“If you aren't supporting the SAVE America Act, you are the problem,” she said. The remark highlights how much the tone around this issue has shifted.

It is no longer being discussed as just a difference of opinion, for Mace, it clearly comes down to what she sees as right and wrong.

Trump doubles down on pushing SAVE America Act

The bill has also received strong and consistent backing from President Donald Trump, who has made it a central focus in recent statements.

Trump has repeatedly said that he does not want any deal to move forward unless it includes what he calls key provisions tied to the act. He has described other proposals without it as “crazy country destroying” and not worth pursuing.

“I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,’” he said.

He also made it clear how important he believes the legislation is compared to everything else currently under discussion. “It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate,” Trump wrote.

In another message, he stressed his stance, saying, “I, as president, will not sign other Bills until this is passed,” adding that the bill should go “to the front of the line.”

Trump also called on Republican leadership, including John Thune, to identify members within their own party who may not support the measure.

What the SAVE America Act proposes to change

At the heart of the debate is what the SAVE America Act would actually do if it becomes law. The proposal focuses on tightening requirements around voter registration.

Under the plan, individuals would need to provide proof of citizenship, such as a US passport or birth certificate, along with a valid photo ID when registering to vote.

It is already illegal for non-US citizens to vote in federal elections, which adds another layer to the ongoing conversation about whether additional measures are needed.
