CHAPPAQUA, NEW YORK: Following Bill Clinton’s extensive testimony in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, Nancy Mace provided comments that clarified the situation and suggested the investigation’s next steps.
She explained that after Bill’s testimony lasting over six hours, along with Hillary Clinton’s six-hour deposition, the investigation’s focus is becoming clearer. Mace did not reveal during the press briefing who would be questioned next. She also made clear that Donald Trump has been cleared of any involvement in the Epstein case.
Later on Saturday, January 28, Mace shared on social media that Epstein’s accountant and lawyer would be among the next to be questioned. She added, “We are just getting started,” signaling that the investigation is far from over.
Investigation moves forward after Bill Clinton's testimony
After Bill Clinton’s deposition, Nancy Mace joined committee chair James Comer and Representative Anna Paulina Luna at a press conference on Friday, January 27. Speaking to reporters, Mace said, “Secretary Clinton and President Clinton both offered. I think suggestions and advice on where this investigation should go, based on the information. They have things that they've seen experiences in their positions, and that's helpful to this entire thing."
She continued, "And again, this has been not partisan. We saw really great questions from the Democrat side of the oversight committee and the Republican side. Today, I was very impressed with where this went today.”
Mace also shared a short video with the caption, “Two days, two Clintons, two depositions. Next up: Jeffrey Epstein's accountant and Jeffrey Epstein's lawyer. We are just getting started.”
Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly stated that he has been “exonerated” in the Epstein investigation. When a reporter asked James Comer if this was accurate, the chairman replied yes, saying, “Based on the evidence I've seen, Trump has been exonerated.”
Clintons' testimonies take center stage in Chappaqua
Bill and Hillary Clinton gave lengthy depositions at a small performing arts center in Chappaqua, the town where they have lived since 2001. As per BBC News, throughout the proceedings, the couple presented a united front.
Bill began his testimony by questioning the Oversight Committee’s decision to summon his wife, calling it unnecessary and unfair. "You made Hillary come in," he said. "She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing." He also noted that she never traveled with Epstein or went to any of his properties.
Hillary later told reporters that she believed her husband was unaware of Epstein’s crimes. “I think the chronology of the connection that he had with Epstein ended several years before anything about Epstein's criminal activities came to light,” she said.
Married for over 50 years, the Clintons showed they are united both personally and politically while facing intense public attention.
