WASHINGTON, DC: Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi stated that the United States should honor President Joe Biden by adding his feature to Mount Rushmore, during an interview with the 'CBS Sunday Morning Show' on Sunday, August 4.

The remarks came as Pelosi was defending her moves during the recent outburst of Democrats about Biden's age and mental acuity, which led him to step down from the presidential race this year and endorse his Vice President Kamala Harris instead, reported the New York Post.

Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) claimed that the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief is “such a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore kind of president," during the interview.

The national monument in South Dakota has the faces of former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt engraved on a rock.

When asked if Biden's achievements were of the order that justified being bestowed the honor of being added to that list, Pelosi said, "You have Teddy Roosevelt up there. And he’s wonderful. I don’t say take him down. But you can add Biden."

The high praise comes from Pelosi at a time when she is being considered by the media as one of the key players responsible for the incumbent suspending his reelection campaign.

She denied aiding in any revolt against Biden, telling CBS, "No, I wasn’t the leader of any pressure (campaign). Let me say things that I didn’t do: I didn’t call one person. I did not call one person. I could always say to him, ‘I never called anybody.’”

When asked if she felt Biden should drop out, Pelosi replied, "No. My whole point was whatever he decides, but we have to have a more aggressive campaign. What I’m saying is I had confidence the president would make the proper choice of a country, whatever that would be — and I said that — whatever that is, we’ll go with."

“He knows that I love him very much," she later added.

This is out of control."

"She probably promised him he'd be put on Rushmore if he dropped out," wrote another user.

"Seriously?" inquired another, along with a morphed image of the rock surface with Biden's face looking confused.

"I can see it now," shared one person l with a meme.
