Nancy Pelosi says she's hopeful about speaking to Joe Biden but urges against 'reviewing the past'
CHICAGO, ILLNOIS: Former speaker Nancy Pelosi has expressed hope that she can maintain a relationship with President Joe Biden, especially after she played a major role in pushing him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
This comes after Biden's disappointing debate performance against former president and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in June.
Nancy Pelosi discusses future challenges for Democrats, says 'we have to go forward'
In a recent interview with MSNBC, Nancy Pelosi shared how much hopeful she is for speaking with Joe Biden.
“Well, I hope so,” Pelosi said when asked about her plans to speak with Biden.
“But again, that was then. This is now,” she continued, adding “We have to go forward and use all of our energy not reviewing the past, but going forward to win this election.”
Pelosi shared her feelings about the situation and her aspirations for the future.
"This is not going to be easy. The other side will misrepresent and mischaracterize and the rest they do. They will try to nullify that is in place for the peaceful transfer of power," Pelosi said, according to NBC News.
Pelosi also shared her thoughts on Vice President Kamala Harris' upcoming speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
She expressed confidence in Harris' abilities, saying, “She will be wonderful because she has so much confidence; she will be herself.”
"It’s wonderful that she’s a woman and that she’s a woman of color, but people want to know what it means to them in their lives," Pelosi added.
Is Joe Biden still upset with Nancy Pelosi?
Reports from few days before DNC indicate that Joe Biden is still upset with Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats who pushed him off the ticket.
Despite this, Pelosi reportedly feels she did what was best for the country.
Business Insider noted that Pelosi responded to party members upset with her actions by saying, "I just wanted to win this election."
"So if they're upset, I'm sorry for them," Pelosi said, adding, "But the country is very happy."

In a separate interview previously with The New Yorker, Nancy Pelosi was asked if her relationship with Joe Biden is over.
At the time, she shared her hopes for reconciliation, stating, "I hope so, I pray so, I cry so. I lose sleep on it." She also acknowledged that she worries about the situation.
When asked if she thinks Biden is upset with her, Pelosi replied, "I don't know," revealing that she has not had a conversation with him since the incident.
Pelosi remains optimistic about the future despite the current challenges and is hopeful that her relationship with the president can be repaired.
