CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: A new video shows Decarlos Brown Jr shockingly admitting that he "got the White girl" after attacking a Ukrainian woman, Iryna Zarutska, with a knife on a commuter train in Charlotte in August.

Authorities said Zarutska, who worked at a local pizza restaurant, was stabbed to death on August 22 on a Charlotte light rail train by DeCarlos Brown, a man with a lengthy criminal history.

The viral video, posted on WBTV’s YouTube account, showed events before and after the brutal attack but did not capture the moment Zarutska was stabbed.

As other passengers rushed to aid Zarutska, Brown Jr said, "I got that White girl, I got that White girl," as he waited for the train to stop so he could exit.

The incident went viral across social media after authorities released the video. Tech billionaire Elon Musk made multiple posts and reposted other users on X who discussed the killing.

Conservatives on social media also weighed in, criticizing the absence of coverage from corporate media.

President Donald Trump also commented on the video. The POTUS wrote in a Truth Social post, "I have seen the horrific video of a beautiful, young Ukrainian refugee, who came to America to escape the vicious War in Ukraine, and was innocently riding the Metro in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was brutally ambushed by a mentally deranged lunatic."

"The perpetrator was a well known career criminal, who had been previously arrested and released on CASHLESS BAIL in January, a total of 14 TIMES. What the hell was he doing riding the train, and walking the streets?," Trump added.

The president further claimed that blood was seen "dripping from the killer’s knife" and said Democrats like former Governor Roy Cooper had "her blood" on their hands.

Decarlos Brown Jr's long criminal history

The 34-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the stabbing and charged with first-degree murder. According to public records reviewed by Fox News Digital, Brown’s criminal history stretches back more than a decade.

President Donald Trump described the suspect, saying, “A lunatic just got up and started. It's right on tape. Not really watchable because it's so horrible, but just viciously stabbed. She's just sitting there.”

Brown was convicted of felony larceny and felony breaking in 2013. In 2015, he was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and served more than six years in prison before being released in 2020. He remained on parole until 2021.

In 2025, Brown was arrested again on charges including misuse of the 911 system and making threats.

On September 9, Trump used the case to again criticize cashless bail, a policy he says allows dangerous individuals to reoffend.

He said, "This cashless bail started a wave in our country where a killer kills somebody and is out on the street by the afternoon, and, in many cases, going out and killing again, cashless bail."
