WASHINGTON, DC: Evangelicals for Harris launched a new advertisement aimed at Christian voters in key swing states on the morning of Wednesday, August 14.

The ad from the group, consisting of Evangelical Christians rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming November election, included a segment from an interview with GOP pollster Frank Luntz and Donald Trump at the 2015 Family Leadership Summit.

In the ad, Luntz questions Donald Trump about whether he has ever sought forgiveness from God. The former president acknowledged the difficulty of the question and admitted, "I'm not sure I have. I don't bring God into that picture."

The advertisement shifted to a display a text that read, "Is there any greater denial of Christ than to say, 'I do not need his forgiveness?'"

Evangelicals for Harris urge Christians to be 'swing voters'

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Evangelicals for Harris called on Christians to be "swing voters."

The organization wrote, "Christians should be swing voters in America, and our choice is clear in this election. We aren't giving up on anyone and welcome all into a necessary conversation."

The new advertisement was released on the same day as the Evangelicals for Harris Zoom call, as per Independent.

Evangelicals for Harris' website describes Harris as a "deeply committed and faithful Christian," highlighting her Baptist background.

"Especially now that she is at the pinnacle of power, Vice President Harris keeps her trusting relationship with God at the center," further states the organization’s website.

White evangelical Protestants primarily voted for Donald Trump in 2020

According to the Pew Research Center, in 2020, 85% of White evangelical Protestant voters who regularly attended worship services cast their votes for Donald Trump. On the other hand, President Joe Biden received considerable support from White Catholics, Black Protestants, and the non-religious demographic.

In 2016, Trump received 77% of the vote from the same demographic while competing against Hillary Clinton.

The GOP nominee has faced accusations of religious hypocrisy multiple times, including during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. In 2020, he was photographed holding a Bible, which was reportedly upside down.

In March, Trump drew flak when he began selling a $60 "God Bless the USA" Bible in collaboration with singer Lee Greenwood.

Following the Pennsylvania rally assassination attempt, Trump credited God for saving his life, a rhetoric that was echoed by his supporters. In a social media post, he wrote, "It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will fear not, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness."

Moreover, during his recent X livestream conversation with Elon Musk, Trump said surviving the assassination attempt made him "more of a believer" in God. Calling it a "miracle," he proclaimed, "Those people who don’t believe in God, I think we got to all start thinking about that."

Internet slams Donald Trump as Evangelicals for Harris ad resurfaces past remark on not needing God's forgiveness

Soon after the Evangelicals for Harris ad was published, Christians came forward with their views on Donald Trump and his faith.

One claimed, "Forgiveness and gratitude are two of the cornerstones of faith. Trump is not capable of gratitude for God's gifts or asking His forgiveness."

Another said, "Donald is nothing more than a grifter preying on his followers, whether they are evangelical believers or aggrieved agnostics. He’s in it for himself. Period."

"Trump is a wolf in sheep’s clothing that has duped easy and willing manipulated people. The Bible warns of false prophets and yet they surrender to the maga cult beliefs. trump is the very opposite of a loving embracing Jesus Christ. Deception of willing divided minds is easy," expressed a person.

"According to Bible verses, Trump fits the anti christ perfectly," remarked an individual. One more said, "He's such a liar. He's not religious, he believes in no god but MONEY, and he doesn't think he's ever done anything that needs to be forgiven. He thinks he IS a god."

"What a farce! trump and religion are so far apart but he needs their votes and he is using them," declared another person.
