WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump claimed his experience going through the failed assassination attempt last month increased his belief in God, during a live stream conversation with X CEO Elon Musk on the social media platform, on Monday, August 12.

During his campaign rally at Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks reportedly fired multiple shots at the GOP nominee, but only one bullet managed to graze his ear. However, one rally-goer was killed in the event while protecting his family, while two others were grievously injured. Crooks was shot dead at the scene by the Secret Service snipers.

Donald Trump's remarks on his assassination attempt

Trump joined Musk on Monday evening for an unscripted public conversation on X, which began with Musk bringing up the topic of the Pennsylvania rally shooting, reported Fox10.

The Tesla and Space-X chief praised Trump for showing "strength under fire," and asked about his experience, to which the latter replied, "Not pleasant."

Trump spoke of extensive blood loss and blamed the incident on "a lack of coordination," saying, "If I had not turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now — as much as I like you. There was a lack of coordination. ... Everybody understands that building should have been covered."

According to the New York Post, Trump went on to share how he believed surviving the assassination attempt was a miracle, telling Musk, "It hit me at an angle that was far less destructive than any other angle."

"So that was a miracle — that was for those people who don’t believe in God, I think we got to all start thinking about that," he continued. "You know, I’m a believer. Now I’m more of a believer, I think. And a lot of people have said that to me. A lot of great people have said that to me, actually. But it was, it was amazing that I happened to be turned just at that perfect angle.”

Trump labeling his failed assassination attempt as a miracle divides netizens

Fans and critics of Donald Trump were divided on their take over Trump praising God for his survival at the Pennsylvania rally. While one group considered it a sign from God, the other accused Trump of lying as usual, as the following comments on the New York Post website demonstrate.

"Miracles are real and the nation all saw one take place in Butler, PA on July 13th," wrote a person.

"Trump Believes in God so much he Breaks at least One of the Ten Commandments Every Day, Most Notably the Prohibition against Lying," slammed another.

"God knows we need President Trump to lead the United States out of the clutches of the current democrat party that is taking us to hades in a hand basket," remarked a third.

"Its not a miracle when a bullet grazes your ear while another one cuts down a father of two," pointed out a fourth.

"Certainly proves god has a sense of humor," quipped a fifth person.

"This liar is lying about God. Clearly, this felon is unwell," jibed yet another.
