WASHINGTON, DC: Former president and GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump launched a rant about leading in "real" polls on social media on Sunday, August 11, despite majority polls showing his political rival Kamala Harris being ahead.

Trump's rant was called unhinged online after he claimed the 2024 cycle was his "best campaign" yet as his team took on "fake news" as well as "low self esteem leakers".

Polls show Kamala Harris leading in key states

Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has made considerable gains in polls against Donald Trump nationally as well as in key states.

At the end of last week, a poll by FiveThirtyEight put the Democratic nominee ahead of her GOP rival by 2.1 points in its national average, reported The Guardian.

In the swing states, Harris led in Michigan by two points, Pennsylvania by 1.1 points, and Wisconsin by 1.8 points. Trump led in Arizona by less than half a point and in Georgia by half a point.

The New York Times reported on Sunday that Harris was leading in three crucial battleground states, according to their surveys conducted along with Sienna College between August 5 and 9.

The Vice President was ahead of the former president by four percentage points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, 50 percent to 46 percent among likely voters in each state.

Donald Trump's social media rant about leading in polls

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday evening, Donald Trump shared, "I’m doing really well in the Presidential Race, leading in almost all of the REAL Polls, and this despite the Democrats unprecedentedly changing their Primary Winning Candidate, Sleepy Joe Biden, midstream, with a Candidate, Kamala Harris, who failed to get even a single Primary Vote, and was the first out of 15 Democrat Candidates to quit the race."

While President Joe Biden was the presumptive Democratic nominee, his age and mental acuity had always been a point of concern for his party and an attacking point for the GOP.

His abysmal performance during the first presidential debate against Trump in June led to many Democrats calling upon him to step down. Biden complied on July 21, when he announced discontinuing his reelection campaign, and endorsed Harris to be at the top of the party ticket.

"I did great in 2016, and WON, did much better in 2020, getting many millions more votes than ‘16, but this, 2024, is thus far my best Campaign, the most enthusiasm and spirit, etc. My team is doing a great job despite the constant 8 year obstacle of dealing with the Fake News and low self esteem leakers," continued Trump.

"We are going to WIN BIG and take our Country back from the Radical Left Losers, Fascists, and Communists. We will, very quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" he added.

Internet says Donald Trump is having a 'meltdown'

Netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) and slammed Trump's rant. They claimed the former president was losing his mind due to the tough battle he is facing in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"He is completely melting down tonight. Truth Social right now looks like the scribblings on the walls of a cell at an insane asylum. 'Low self esteem leakers' means someone is about to be fired," posted one social media user.

"Sure, Crazy Grandpa. Sure," said another.

"Holy s**t and this guy is the best the right could provide," added one person.

"'The Knights of Kamalot have taken the airports!' #CrazyTrump," remarked another.

"It’s been so entertaining to see Trump breakdown," shared one individual.

"He's trying to convince himself he's got a shot when he knows he's taking a nose dive," another stated.

"Trump is reaching a true state of insanity. Completely out of touch with reality and trying to create his own fake narrative for the cult. He must come nowhere near the Oval Office ever again," shared another X user.
