WASHINGTON, DC: MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace might be one of the most popular political news journalists currently in America, but she is not the most ardent supporter of President Donald Trump

The former ‘The View’ host recently stirred controversy after she criticized how Trump incorporated the story of a brain cancer survivor in his joint address to Congress on March 4, but this is not the first time Wallace has butted heads with Trump and Republicans.

Wallace has often made scathing remarks against the president on live television, and the criticism has been harsh.

2020: Nicolle Wallace slams Donald Trump over Republican Party’s treatment of Joe Biden

In May 2020, Nicolle Wallace criticized the Republicans for their treatment of the then-incoming president Joe Biden, per Nicki Swift.

In a scathing remark, she said, "Having once been a member of the Republican party, the right isn't running an intellectually honest operation to get to the bottom of whether Tara Reade was victimized. The right is running a smear campaign against Joe Biden," per Deadline

Trump, not taking the criticism lightly, responded with a biting response on his X account, where he wrote, "She was thrown off The View like a dog, Zero T.V. Personas," and added, "Now Wallace is a 3rd rate lapdog for Fake News MSDNC (Concast).”

2024: Nicolle Wallace says ‘Donald Trump sure as hell isn’t changing’

Four years after their fiery altercation, Nicolle Wallace once again took a dig at Donald Trump when she unleashed another on-air rant against him while discussing the 78-year-old commander-in-chief’s social media comments about a judge’s daughter last year.

In April 2024, Wallace discussed Trump’s relationship with courts and juries with former federal judge Michael Luttig, MSNBC's John Heilman, Lisa Rubin, and Glenn Kirschner. As the conversation further steered toward Trump, a frustrated Wallace tossed her scripts and said, "We need to change the conversation.”

She declared, "I've reported breaking news about gag order requests due to threats against judges and their children more times than I can count today."

Accusing Trump of using the "highest court in the land" to delay "every federal criminal trial,” the journalist added, "Donald Trump brazenly and repeatedly attacks not just judges.”

She continued, "Judges don’t have Secret Service protecting them,” before adding, "What are we going to do differently, because Donald Trump sure as hell isn’t changing.”

Luttig further argued, “From the moment the former president began his vicious attacks on the federal and state courts and their judges, his objective was to delegitimize those courts. This way, if they ruled against him in any of his cases, his followers, and possibly a significant portion of the nation, would dismiss those rulings as politically motivated.”

2025: Nicolle Wallace calls out Donald Trump for featuring DJ Daniel in his speech

The vitriol between Nicolle Wallace and Donald Trump continued even after the MAGA spearhead was back in the White House for the second time.

In March 2025, tension flared up between the duo again when the MSNBC host called out the president for incorporating the story of the 13-year-old African American boy named DJ Daniel, in his joint address for Congress on March 4.

For his speech, Trump invited the teenager who has been battling cancer.

"Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who really loves the police," Trump said in his speech, and added, "His name is DJ Daniel. He is 13 years old, and he has always dreamed of becoming a police officer."

He also revealed that the teenager has officially become an honorary agent within the US Secret Service.

Later, Wallace called his act out on television, while adding a supportive message for the boy.

Wallace said during the segment, "And I let myself feel joy about DJ, and I hope he's alive for another, you know, 95 years, and I hope he lives the life he wants to live."

"He wants to be a cop. He knows what he wants to do, and maybe when you have childhood cancer, that crystallizes for you," she added.

However, she also made an oblique remark toward Trump, when she noted that she hoped he's never in a position to "defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump's supporters,” referencing the 2021 insurrection and Capitol Riot.

"And if he does, I hope he isn't one of the six who loses his life to suicide, and I hope he isn't one who has to testify against the people who carried out acts of seditious conspiracy and then lived to see Donald Trump pardon those people,” continued Wallace.

Soon, her comments were met with harsh criticism from MAGA powerhouses, including press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

"Last night, MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace disgustingly looped in a 13-year-old boy with brain cancer into an attack on the president over January 6," she said.

"It's sad and frankly pathetic that Democrats and liberals in the legacy media continue to allow their hatred for the president to override their love for our country," Leavitt later added, per Fox News.
