The brief exchange, captured amid demonstrations across the US, stood out as a rare moment of civility between people on opposite sides of the political divide.

“I’ve been talking all day with White House officials who have been telling me things like, ‘Trump’s not watching. We don’t care. Only reporters care about this,'” Traylor told host Alex Witt.
“I’ve been inside the offices of some of the top White House aides, seeing the TV screens they have on — MS NOW has been on many times. So, in some ways, the president is getting this message.”
The moment stood out against the broader backdrop of protests, which have often included heated exchanges between demonstrators and counter-protesters.
Traylor said a second march was scheduled for Saturday evening toward Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago.
“They’re going to march all the way as close as they legally and safely can to Mar-a-Lago, hoping their voices are physically heard by Donald Trump and some of his top staffers.”
Protester and MAGA supporter share rare moment of unity at rally
During coverage on MS Now, Traylor said he witnessed a protester approach a Trump supporter during one of the rallies.
According to the reporter, the two individuals briefly spoke and shook hands despite being on opposite sides of the political divide.
“Alex, just to share one really brief moment, we talk a lot about unity today,” he said.
“There was this counter-counter protest, essentially a pro-Trump protest happening nearby. There were only a couple dozen folks there.”
Traylor described it as a contrast to the tensions typically seen at large political gatherings.
“And I saw this, I witnessed a really cool moment where this ‘No Kings’ protester came up, shook the person’s hand and said, ‘We can all be unified here today. Today is about unity.’”
“A really cool moment that seems to be the theme across the board, even in the backyard of Donald Trump.”
The 'No Kings' protests are part of a larger movement raising concerns about Trump’s administration, including immigration enforcement, federal authority, and foreign policy. Events were held across all 50 states, drawing participants from both large cities and smaller communities.
