WASHINGTON, DC: Melania Trump is reportedly expected to appear in public more frequently while her husband is running for office, according to former president Donald Trump.

Earlier this week, Trump made these statements when speaking with presenter Laura Ingraham at a Fox News town hall

Donald Trump says Melania 'loves' US

Trump said on Tuesday, "It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results. She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country."

He added, "You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them. If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person."

Melania has so far avoided the media spotlight and made few public appearances in support of her husband's 2024 presidential campaign.

Melania's recent absence from the campaign trail is partly explained by her mother Amalija Knavs' death earlier this year. However, political analysts have questioned if she will cut back on her support for Trump as the campaign heats up.

Additionally, Trump conveyed his gratitude for Melania's commitment to raising their son, Barron Trump.

"Her life revolves around that boy. It’s so important to her. At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She’s raised a lot of money for charity. She’s a private person," he mentioned.

He also added, "And she loves the country. She’s going to be out a lot, but she does it for the good of the country, not for her. She’s somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn’t need that."

Internet trolls Donald Trump over wife's absence

Donald Trump's remarks received severe criticism on the Internet, with several social media users trolling the couple.

A user posted on X, "Of course she will. The only money left is what they can scam from campaign donations so she's on the payroll. Crooks," while another added, "Not before the check clears."

Someone else mentioned, "She knows exactly what she’s doing. When the money is gone so will she be."Another stated, "Sure. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. I’ll bet if he does win she doesn’t even move into the White House."

"She should be ashamed of herself," a scathing comment read.
