Olivia Nuzzi's 2015 tweet hasn't aged well after alleged relationship with Robert F Kennedy Jr revealed
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Olivia Nuzzi, a prominent journalist for New York Magazine, has found herself at the center of a storm of scrutiny after she was placed on leave.
The leave was prompted by revelations of an alleged personal relationship with Robert F Kennedy Jr, a former presidential candidate and political figure who is married to actress Cheryl Hines.
Both Nuzzi and Kennedy have denied that their relationship was physical, with Kennedy's advisor clarifying that it was "emotional and digital" while Nuzzi referred to it as "personal."
The saga took a new twist when internet users dug up a tweet from 2015 in which Nuzzi appeared to criticize Hollywood for perpetuating the stereotype that female reporters "sleep with their sources," as per Daily Mail.

Olivia Nuzzi's old tweet resurfaces in light of her alleged affair with Robert F Kennedy Jr
The long-forgotten tweet became the target of brutal internet mockery after Olivia Nuzzi was placed on leave.
In 2015, Nuzzi shared an article from New York Magazine with the rhetorical question: "Why does Hollywood think female reporters sleep with their sources?"
This statement, which now seems to conflict with the recent allegations, was met with a barrage of insults and criticisms from social media users.
Although Nuzzi did not write the original article, hundreds of users responded to her tweet after it was unearthed, accusing her of perpetuating the stereotype she previously condemned.
One person remarked, "For years, women in journalism have fought against the sad, incorrect, and damaging trope of the female journalist in movies and TV using sex as a tool to get info from sources, or who have inappropriate relationships with sources...then here comes Olivia Nuzzi."

"She has no idea how much repetitional damage she’s done to journalists. Aside from giving credence to a disgusting and tired trope that female journalists just sleep their way to stories, this makes all our jobs that much harder at a time of heavy distrust," wrote one person. Olivia Nuzzi met Robert F Kennedy Jr while writing a profile on him in 2023
Olivia Nuzzi, who became engaged to Politico's chief Washington correspondent Ryan Lizza in 2022, has faced significant media attention since the story broke.
According to reports, Nuzzi met Kennedy while writing a profile on him for New York Magazine in 2023.
Nuzzi visited Kennedy’s Brentwood home for the interview and the two reportedly went hiking together, a detail that later raised eyebrows when their alleged relationship came to light.
Although Nuzzi has admitted to an inappropriate relationship, she has denied that it was physical and has expressed regret over the matter.
"Earlier this year, the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal," Nuzzi explained in a statement to Daily Mail.
She further clarified, "During that time, I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source. The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I've disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York."
In response to the situation, New York Magazine issued a statement acknowledging Nuzzi's actions and explaining their decision to place her on leave.
The statement read, "Recently our Washington Correspondent Olivia Nuzzi acknowledged to the magazine's editors that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine's standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures."
The magazine also emphasized that if they had been aware of the relationship earlier, Nuzzi would not have been allowed to continue covering the presidential campaign.
However, an internal review of her published work revealed "no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias." Still, the magazine noted that a more thorough third-party review was being conducted.
Kennedy's spokesperson also responded to the claims, telling CNN that Kennedy had only met Nuzzi once for an interview that resulted in what he described as a "hit piece."
The insider close to Kennedy reinforced that the relationship was "emotional and digital in nature, not physical."
