GLENDALE, ARIZONA: Actress Cheryl Hines, the wife of former independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr, has been facing strong internet backlash after her husband decided to suspend his campaign and endorse former president Donald Trump in the upcoming election on Friday, August 23.

A lifelong Democrat, Kennedy Jr's decision to support the GOP nominee came after several weeks of conversations with the Trump campaign, where he is speculated to have been offered an administrative role, according to Newsweek.

The environmental lawyer claimed the media for failing to gain traction in the election cycle, stating, "In my heart, I no longer believe that I have a realistic path to electoral victory in the face of this relentless, systematic censorship and media control. So I cannot in good conscience ask my staff and volunteers to keep working their long hours, or ask my donor to keep giving when I cannot honestly, tell them, that I have a real path to the White House."

Cheryl Hines' tweet in support of RFK Jr

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) hours after Kennedy Jr made his announcement to drop out of the race, the 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star wrote, "The decision has been made to suspend my husband's, Robert Kennedy Jr's, presidency and I'd like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign."

"They have accomplished feats that were said to be impossible," she continued, sharing an insight into Kennedy Jr's campaign, which she noted as 'presidency' because of a typo.

"They have gathered over a million signatures, more than any candidate in history, and have achieved ballot access across the country despite the roadblocks and lawsuits that have been brought against them for the sole purpose of keeping Bobby off of the ballots so no one would even have the opportunity to vote for him."

"I deeply respect the decision Bobby made to run on the principle of unity. Over the last year and a half, I have met some extraordinary people from all parties — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. It's been my experience that the vast majority of all parties are truly good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative, and endearing journey," added Hines.

Internet takes down Cheryl Hines

A day before RFK Jr announced he would endorse Trump, he had exited the Arizona ballot for the race for the presidency. That move alone triggered several rumors about RFK Jr's next move.

Social media was abuzz with speculations and jokes and one among them was a year-old video of RFK Jr telling an interviewer jokingly how his wife Cheryl would divorce him if he ever agreed to become Trump's VP pick.

While not a VP pick, this time he has chosen to endorse Trump and so trolls on the Internet dragged his wife using memes about divorce, especially since reports claimed that Cheryl 'isn't too happy' with her husband's decision to support Trump. However, her tweet in support of her husband's decision says otherwise.

A user said, "Cheryl Hines is drawing up the divorce papers as we speak lol."

"I never pegged you as a Trump supporter but here we are. Your legacy is on the line. If you don’t say anything, you will be remembered for supporting Trump. Is that what you want?" wrote a user.

"I didn't realize he was president. Or in your worm eaten brains, maybe he already was," stated another, highlighting the typo.

Another user asked, "OK. So when is Cheryl Hines filing the divorce papers?"

A user said adding a gif, "Cheryl Hines’s divorce attorney rn."

"Do you have your MAGA hat yet?" quipped yet another.

Another added, "RFK is in his "Tom Brady torching his marriage with Gisele so he can go 8-9 with the Buccaneers" era and that Cheryl Hines divorce petition is going to hit like crack."
