Omar to Trump: 'Your support is collapsing and you're panicking'

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) fired back at President Donald Trump on Monday, January 26, rejecting his latest corruption claims and criticizing the federal escalation in her state.

Responding to a Truth Social post in which Trump announced a new crackdown in Minnesota, Omar framed the President’s move as political deflection rather than law enforcement.

The exchange played out online after Omar quoted a repost from the “Rapid Response 47” account featuring Trump’s announcement. In her response, she argued that the deployment of federal officials and the accompanying rhetoric were intended to divert attention away from what she described as the administration’s broader failures.

Collapsing support fuels presidential panic

“Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing and you’re panicking,” Omar wrote on X, addressing the President directly following Trump’s announcement that he is sending “border czar” Tom Homan to Minnesota to oversee Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations and coordinate a fraud investigation after recent federal agent shootings and protests.

Omar cast the move as politically motivated, arguing it reflects concern over the President’s standing rather than a public safety imperative. By linking the deployment to political pressure and the broader controversy over aggressive federal enforcement in the state, she sought to challenge the notion that the action is rooted in legitimate law enforcement needs.

Deflecting failures with lies and conspiracies

The Congresswoman accused Trump of using her as a scapegoat to divert attention from his own record. "Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me," she stated.

This was a direct response to specific allegations Trump made in his post, where he claimed that the Department of Justice and Congress were "looking at" her. Trump had alleged that Omar "left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars," implying that her wealth was connected to a "massive 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud" in the state. Omar flatly rejected these figures and the narrative around them as fabrications meant to distract the public.

Years of investigations found absolutely nothing

Omar pushed back firmly against the threat of new inquiries, citing a history of previous scrutiny that failed to produce results. "Years of 'investigations' have found nothing," she declared, using scare quotes around the word "investigations" to delegitimize the previous probes into her conduct.

Her statement served as a preemptive defense against the "major investigation" Trump announced in his post. While the President warned that "Time will tell all," Omar pointed to her history of exonerations to argue the new accusations are recycled attacks with no basis in fact.

Omar concluded by calling for the federal presence in Minnesota to end. “Get your goons out of Minnesota,” she wrote, referring to the surge of federal agents and the arrival of Homan.

Trump has described Homan as “tough but fair” and said he will report directly to the President.
