Outrage as Democrats propose 'blitz primary' moderated by Taylor Swift if Biden exits race
WASHINGTON, DC: Two Democratic power players turned their hope to several celebrities, including pop icon Taylor Swift, to support a "blitz primary" in the event of President Joe Biden exiting the 2024 race before Election Day in November.
According to a report from Semafor, Rosa Brooks, a Georgetown law professor and former staffer under the Barack Obama and Bill Clinton administrations, and Ted Dintersmith, a venture capitalist and Democratic donor, proposed the "blitz" plan.
It is a month-long primary consisting of six candidates who secure majority votes from party delegates. The delegates would decide the eventual nominee before August's Democratic National Convention. However, this would only be possible if Biden concedes to the heightening calls to exit by mid-July in light of his lackluster debate performance last month.
Rosa Brooks and Ted Dintersmith propose celebrities, including Taylor Swift, could moderate forums
The Democrats suggested if Biden ends the race, potential replacements could express their interest in competing in a "primary sprint" that would cut down the candidates to six. A-list celebrities like Swift, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Stephen Colbert could moderate forums between the finalists.

According to Brooks, her plan received "near-universal support."
Meanwhile, Dintersmith told CNBC, "We know we're not in any position to define what actually happens, but we're so encouraged by the uniform reaction: 'Wow! If something along these lines happened, America would be lifted up from our current doldrums."
Despite endorsing Biden in his 2020 campaign, the 'Blank Space' singer, who is a hardcore critic of Donald Trump, has not broken her silence on whether she would support the incumbent for a re-election bid.
After remaining neutral on her political stance for years, Swift declared her Democratic-leaning during the 2018 midterm election. She endorsed Phil Bredesen for Senate from Tennessee, who ran against conservative Republican Marsha Blackburn.
Internet slams Democrats for relying on Taylor Swift for a 'blitz primary'
Social media users blasted the Democarts' proposal to replace Biden and conduct the "blitz primary" with the help of celebrities, including Swift.
"They are shooting themselves in the foot, it's turned into a reality TV show, which fits in today's world, but won't bold well in the election. All of this is non=sense, and the Dems are making fools out of themselves. even though the Republicans are telling the people point blank that they are going to lose all their right, they are still going to win because the Dems can't get their act together, which will hurt them in the long run," a user commented on the HuffPost article.
"How sad is it that they've been hoping for months now that this girl somehow help the dem party, first was a hope for endorsement, now they want her to get the white walker out of the race... I mean really? Taylor swift? She can save the day as far as politics go? They really have nothing to offer voters..." another remarked.
"Engage us with policy and an end to supporting war crimes. It will show you actually care, unlike trying to harness celebrity worship culture," one user commented on Facebook.
"You Democrats have pitiful existence," read a second response.
"Government looking to celebrities to fix Government. Amazing," an individual said on X.
"These people are off their rocker. The AMERICAN PUBLIC decides elections. Not demonrats !!!!" Someone else chimed in.
"So our votes don’t matter. How about we settle this years election with a cage match between billionaires or maybe a jousting contest," read one remark.
