NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former president Donald Trump attacked the judge overseeing the hush money trial against him again by degrading his place of birth.

Speaking to reporters after the court proceedings on Tuesday, May 21, the 45th president of the US lashed out at Columbia-born Judge Juan Merchan and said, "Take a look at where he comes from," Mediate reported.

The hush money trial judge, who was born in Bogota, Columbia, relocated to Queens, New York when he was six. After studying business at Baruch College, he obtained his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law.

"The judge hates Donald Trump," the White House hopeful argued. "Just take a look. Take a look at him. Take a look at where he comes from. He can't stand Donald Trump. He's doing everything in his power," Trump added.

Donald Trump doubles down on political persecution arguments

The soon-to-be formal GOP nominee indicated that Democrats brought up the case because of his presidential run.

Addressing the media, Trump read out from the sympathetic legal analysis of Fox News' Gregg Jarrett. "This trial is now officially a sad and pathetic joke," he quoted Jarrett.

"'It's a crime. Merchan and Bragg are the head clowns. It should be patently obvious to all that the leading Republican candidate for president is on trial not for what he's done, but for who he is. Trump is the potential nemesis of the Democrats,'" Trump continued his whining.

In his analysis, Jarrett claimed that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the judge "loathe" the defendant.

Trump's attack against Merchan reminded everyone of his past criticisms of US District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who oversaw a civil fraud case against the real estate mogul's Trump University in 2016.

At that time, Trump argued Curiel's Mexican ancestry caused the bias against him.

Since the start of the historic trial, the ex-president frequently ripped Merchan and even urged him to rescue himself from the trial. Furthermore, he recently stated that the judge could regain his "respect" if he dismissed the criminal case.

Trump pleaded not guilty to the 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election to silence her about their extramarital affair.

Outrage over Donald Trump's remarks about Juan Merchan's ethnic descent

Netizens lashed out at Donald Trump for citing Judge Merchan's Colombian ancestry while criticizing the hush money trial.

One social user said, "The guy is a god damn mess." Meanwhile, another remarked, "He's an American. And a patriot. Unlike Trump."

"More proof that Trump’s xenophobia knows no bounds," one user angrily said.

Another response read, "Oh my god. Seriously, what does that mean? Is he saying that because he *looks* different and he comes from a different region/country, that he would (or should) automatically dislike trump because of the color of *his* (white) skin? That's one of the most racist things I have ever heard. And it's just right there, for everybody. Pure racial projection. Unbelievable."

One person asked, "Columbia. You got a beef with Columbia, too? Is there any person or any place on Earth you have a good relationship with?"

"He doesn’t spend anytime defending his own actions. He just attacks the people trying to hold him responsible for those decisions," someone else wrote.

An outraged individual tweeted, "I mean, look where Trump comes from… rich, spoiled brat who thinks he can get away with anything, thinks he deserves to get away with anything, like it’s his right. So he just flaps his yap all the way… lies, accuse, blame. Rinse, repeat."

Another stated, "He is not a leader ..complains everyday.. he could have done a campaign speech for Americans everyday from the courts but no he would rather spew hate towards the courts and the Judge..just a vile man.."
