Outrage as Rob Menendez wins NJ Democratic primary despite scandal-hit dad Bob Menendez's corruption trial
TRENTON, NEW JERSEY: Representative Rob Menendez Jr (D-NJ) and his embattled politician father Bob Menendez have been blasted online after Rob's reported win against Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla in the Democratic primary.
Rob’s father, his stepmother Nadine, and three businessmen were pressed with charges in 2023 after it was alleged that Bob took a bribe in the form of gold bars, cash, and other luxurious items as well as a fancy car while agreeing to use his power and position to help the associates in their business pursuits, reports the Associated Press.
Rob Menendez Jr mocks Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla
Bob, who has been the US Senator for New Jersey since 2006, is currently facing trial and if found guilty, he can end up behind bars for decades. But despite all, Rob bagged the Democratic nomination for a second House term on June 4. Now he is expected to defeat Republican Anthony Valdes in November, The New York Post reports.
In December last year, he mocked Bhalla by reportedly saying, “It seems the only reason Ravi has entered the race after endorsing me in 2022 and publicly applauding our work this year is because a week after losing control of the city council, he sees no political future for himself in Hoboken.”

After defeating Bhalla, Rob tweeted, “From the bottom of my heart, to the voters of the 8th District: thank you. We always said we would do this together and we did. Tonight was a great success, but the work continues on tomorrow. And we will continue to fight for and deliver for all the residents of our incredible district.”
